Role - Commissioning Engineer Location - Plymouth ( Hybrid ) My client is seeking a hands-on Commissioning Engineer with strong technical expertise to support delivery across complex engineering projects within a high-spec, cleanroom-based manufacturing environment. This role is ideally suited to someone with a solid commissioning background who is looking to develop into a managerial position over time. The focus is on practical system commissioning, integration, and technical problem-solving, ensuring systems are fully tested, optimised, and ready for handover in a controlled production setting. You will play a key role in the final stages of project delivery, working closely with engineering teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless system start-up and transition to operations. Key Responsibilities • Carry out and support hands-on commissioning activities across HVAC systems, cleanroom environments, utilities, and process systems, • Execute commissioning plans, including system testing, fault finding, and optimisation, • Support system integration and performance testing to ensure operational readiness, • Act as a technical problem solver, identifying and resolving issues during commissioning and start-up phases, • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, automation, construction, and validation, • Assist in the development and completion of commissioning documentation (procedures, test scripts, reports), • Support the transition of systems from construction through to commissioning and final handover, • Contribute to coordination of commissioning activities and timelines, with exposure to project delivery responsibilities, • Interface with automation and control systems (BMS, PLC, SCADA) during commissioning activities, • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and quality standards, particularly within regulated or controlled environments Requirements • Proven experience in a Commissioning Engineer / C&I / HVAC commissioning role within cleanroom or controlled environments, • Strong hands-on commissioning capability ideally someone who understands how to commission systems end-to-end, • Experience working within pharmaceutical or similar regulated environments (clean air tech, life sciences, or equivalent preferred), • Knowledge of HVAC systems, cleanrooms, and utilities (e.g. black utilities, process gases), • Exposure to automation systems (BMS, PLC, SCADA) is advantageous, • Experience contributing to commissioning documentation and technical reporting, • Strong technical problem-solving ability during system start-up and integration, • Motivated to develop into a leadership/managerial role over time, • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills Looking forward to hearing back from you!
