Job DescriptionElectrical Mechanic / Junior Mechanic Job Description This role focuses heavily on conduit bending and installation on commercial and high-end construction projects. You will be responsible for installing and bending EMT, rigid, and PVC conduit, supporting electrical layouts, and assisting with wiring and system installation. This position can be tailored to both junior mechanics and experienced mechanics, with expectations based on skill level, while maintaining compliance with NYC and NEC code requirements. Responsibilities Install electrical conduit systems, including EMT, PVC, and galvanized pipe, ranging from ½” through 4”. Bend conduit using hand benders, hydraulic benders, and table benders (offsets, 90s, saddles, kicks, and complex runs). Measure, cut, thread, and install conduit for accurate and clean pipe runs. Read and interpret electrical drawings and layouts to support conduit routing. Install conduit on walls, ceilings, and overhead structures, including rack systems and risers. Pull wire through conduit and assist with feeder pulls and distribution work. Mount boxes, panels, and electrical equipment to support installations. Assist with installation of lighting, switches, receptacles, and devices. Support troubleshooting and basic service work when needed. Maintain clean, organized, and code-compliant installations. Follow all jobsite safety rules, PPE requirements, and daily procedures. Work with foremen and team members to complete projects on schedule. Essential Skills Strong experience with conduit installation (EMT, PVC, rigid, aluminum). Ability to bend conduit using hand and/or hydraulic benders. Understanding of bending techniques (offsets, saddles, 90s). Ability to measure and plan conduit runs accurately. Basic to strong knowledge of reading blueprints and layouts. Experience working on commercial or construction job sites. Ability to assist with wire pulling and electrical installations. Understanding of basic NEC code and safety standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience on commercial or high-end retail projects. Familiarity with conduit bending formulas and advanced pipe work (for mechanics). Experience with installing racks, wiremold, and distribution pathways. Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to maintain production pace. Good communication skills and ability to work with a crew. Work Environment Work takes place on active construction sites in NJ, with typical start times between 6:00–7:00 AM. This is a fast-paced, hands-on environment focused on conduit installation and electrical rough-in work. Daily tasks involve working with pipe, tools, lifts, and active jobsite conditions. PPE is required at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodbridge, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $37.00/hr.
