Job Title: Behavior Technician (RBT) Job Type: Part-Time Location: Rosedale, NY 11422 In-Home Position Overview: Strides ABA is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Behavior Technician RBT to provide in-home, community-based, or daycare services for children with developmental disabilities. As a Registered Behavior Technician RBT, you will work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). In this role, the Registered Behavior Technician RBT will implement individualized behavior plans, collect detailed data, and use positive reinforcement techniques to enhance the client’s quality of life. The Registered Behavior Technician RBT is key to delivering structured therapy and ensuring consistent progress. Our ideal Registered Behavior Technician RBT will collaborate with families, caregivers, and the clinical team to ensure each child reaches their fullest potential. Above all, the Registered Behavior Technician RBT will uphold professional standards, maintain compassion, and advocate for each child’s needs. Key Responsibilities: * Provide direct 1:1 ABA therapy in-home, in the community, or at a daycare center. * Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the BCBA. * Accurately collect and record data on client behavior and progress. * Collaborate with the BCBA regarding client care. * Ensure a safe and engaging learning environment for the client. * Maintain professional, respectful, and compassionate interactions with clients and their families. Qualifications: * Must be RBT certified or willing to become certified (We provide resources for RBT certification if not currently certified). * Must be at least 18 years old. * High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. * Ability to lift at least 50 pounds (due to the physical nature of the role and potential to assist clients with mobility). * Ability to kneel, sit, stand, and move around frequently during sessions. * Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (for community and in-home services). * Ability to pass a background check. Skills & Abilities: * Basic knowledge of ABA principles preferred but not required (training will be provided). Legal Requirements: * Adherence to HIPAA guidelines for confidentiality and data protection. * Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding child welfare and mandatory reporting. * Physical ability to assist with safety protocols, including lifting or moving clients when needed. Expectations of a Special Education Behavior Technician: * Study patient behavior and apply ABA principles * Respond appropriately to different situations common among Autism patients and others with behavioral and developmental challenges * Utilize key communication skills to provide effective feedback to patients * Effectively communicate positive feedback to patients * Be able to recognize and respond to critical improvements in patient behaviors. * Become familiar with and use behavioral redirection techniques * Know how to respond to negative behaviors appropriately * Provide written documentation on each patient. * Taking initiative to actively seek clinical direction from supervisor when support is needed * Respectful and consistent communication with all stakeholders including, but not limited to client caregivers and students, supervisors, and coworkers * Engaging in bidirectional feedback loops with professional attitude As an ABA Behavior Technician/Therapist (BT), you have the opportunity to make an impact on a school-aged student with the diagnosis ASD. In this role, you will have the support of a board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) who will supervise your work and guide you through an individualized treatment plan (BIP) with personalized SMART goals to work on independently with the student. You will be collecting data and completing daily session notes in this role.
