Job Description Closing Date: April 20th 2026 (PST) Position: Sr. Maintenance Assistant - Janitorial Department: Public Works – Maintenance Services Salary: $22.26 – $25.77 Hourly Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible Job Summary: Under general supervision, performs a variety of maintenance and custodial tasks to ensure facilities remain clean, safe, and in proper working condition. May provide guidance and support to Maintenance Assistants, including assisting with training and daily task coordination. Supervisory Responsibilities: • May oversee Maintenance Assistants, • Aid in training Maintenance Assistants Example of Duties & Responsibilities: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: • Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing surfaces in assigned areas, including restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas., • Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste materials following established procedures., • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other necessary items in restrooms and common areas., • Maintain reports about repairs and cleaning schedules., • Maintain floors by polishing, buffing, and applying floor finishes as needed., • Ensure proper functioning and cleanliness of cleaning equipment, reporting any maintenance issues promptly., • Promptly report any safety hazards, maintenance needs, or supply shortages to the supervisor., • Follow safety guidelines and procedures while using cleaning chemicals and equipment to ensure a safe working environment., • Demonstrate adaptability in performing a variety of assigned tasks and assists with additional duties or special projects as required., • Manage time effectively to complete assigned tasks within the designated work hours., • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and cleanliness and safety standards regulations., • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with employees, visitors, or tenants., • Collaborate with other janitorial staff members to ensure efficient and thorough cleaning operations., • Perform other related duties as assigned Required Skills: • Strong communication skills, • Time management, • Basic record keeping skills, • Knowledge of standard cleaning methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work, • Ability to safely use and handle cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines, • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, • Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment Education and Experience: • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance., • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Assistant/Janitorial desired.
