Job DescriptionJob Title: Assembly TechnicianJob Description We are seeking a skilled Fiberglass Repair Technician to join our team. The role involves performing high-quality repairs on the exterior shell, roof, and structural components of travel trailers and specialty trailers. The technician will assess damage, perform grinding, laminating, sanding, and apply gelcoat to achieve a seamless, leak-proof, and factory-like finish. Responsibilities • Confer with customers or service writers to determine the nature and extent of fiberglass, gelcoat, or structural damage., • Remove damaged fiberglass panels, cut out rotted wood substrate, and repair or replace structural frame members., • Apply multiple layers of fiberglass mat, cloth, and resin to surfaces, ensuring proper adhesion and strength., • Mix and apply gelcoat to match original factory colors, textures, and contours., • Sand, grind, trim, and polish repaired areas to a smooth, high-quality finish., • Seal cracks, gaps, or joints with appropriate sealant compounds to prevent water intrusion., • Remove and reinstall windows, doors, trim, and moldings necessary to access or complete repairs., • Adhere to all health and safety regulations regarding the handling of resins, fumes, and power tools.Essential Skills, • Proven experience in fiberglass repair, gelcoat application, or bodywork, preferably in marine, automotive, or RV settings., • Proficiency in using hand and power tools such as grinders, sanders, spray equipment, and rollers., • Knowledge of various resins, catalysts, gelcoats, and fiberglass matting types., • Ability to achieve precise color matching and seamless, smooth finishes., • Physical stamina to work in varied positions and handle materials., • Ability to read work orders and explain repair processes effectively.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience in inspection and quality control.
