Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title : Import Operations Agent Location : Rockville Centre Reports to : Import Manager Job Summary: The successful Import Agent is responsible for processing documentation required by US Customs and Border Protection for entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers and providing excellent customer service through clear communication from origin to destination. This position involves managing and coordinating the importation of goods, ensuring compliance with regulations, tracking shipments, and communicating with suppliers and customs brokers. Key Activities: • Co-Ordinate with Overseas agents and offices on Imports into the USA, • Issuance of Delivery Orders including follow up with truckers to secure POD’s, • Problem solves when occasion arises including airline problems, Customs entry 1C problems, release problems in general., • Liaise with Participating Government Agencies when needed: USDA, FDA, FISH & WILDLIFE, EPA/DOT, LACEY, • Billing of all files handled, • Enter all events relevant to the order in TMS platform., • Assist on Quotes with Pricing team for Domestic delivery and clearance charges Technical Experience: · Basic knowledge of INCO terms · Basic Knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Customs regulations, and other government agency requirements • Knowledge of Interaction needed with airlines, steamship lines and truckers., • Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, Word Behavioural Competencies: • Procedure and SOP writing skills and ability to work within these., • Customer service driven, • Result-oriented and driven to achieve goals and meet targets, • Profitability, result-oriented and always looking for improvement in our processes, • Team oriented, • Negotiation Skills, • Willingness to work flexible hours as the business requires Self-motivation and drive to succeed.
