Job Description Mission QSAC is a New York City and Long Island based nonprofit that supports children and adults with autism, together with their families, in achieving greater independence, realizing their future potential, and contributing to their communities in a meaningful way by offering person-centered services. QSAC pursues this mission through direct services that provide a supportive and individualized setting for children and adults with autism to improve their communication, socialization, academic and functional skills. Job Summary If you are a skilled and handy maintenance worker who demonstrates safety, dedication and follow-through then we would like to talk to you! QSAC is looking for a skilled and seasoned maintenance worker who has hands-on experience in maintenance trades that include, but are not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, general woodworking, various repairs, wall installation, painting and minor internal construction. The Maintenance office is based in Jamaica, Queens, but travel to other locations is required. Vehicle will be provided for travel to programs. Salary - $21.00 - $24.00 an hour Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Maintenance • Complete projects including plumbing, carpentry, moving furniture, deliveries, construction, painting and general repairs in an efficient and timely manner, • Complete work orders efficiently the first time - follow logical steps like patching after painting after laying carpet, • Maintain cleanliness throughout facilities, performing cleaning duties as assigned, • Review work orders after heading to work site to ensure all materials and tools are available, • Demonstrate safety and care of equipment and supplies to protect from damage and theft, • May be required to cover general cleaning and custodial tasks, • Prioritize work to complete time sensitive issues first, • Complete work orders efficiently the first time - follow logical steps like patching after painting after laying carpet., • Utilize troubleshooting skills to determine best way to fix problems and communicate delays or emergency reassignments to supervisor, • Identify problems in the facility and inform supervisor, as soon as they are discovered, • May be required to work independently in the field and remain focused on assigned tasks and priorities, • Ability to safely lift 50 lb. items and equipment required, • High school diploma/GED, preferred, • Must have 2-3 years’ general maintenance experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, general woodworking, various repairs, wall installation, painting and minor internal construction skills, • Must have valid Driver's License with excellent driving history, • Requires the ability to read, write and communicate effectively with others in English language Benefits Our benefits go beyond health and retirement.
