Job DescriptionJob Title: Packer Job Description The packer supports packaging operations in a food manufacturing environment by following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all requirements outlined in the company’s HACCP plan to maintain SQF compliance, sanitation, traceability, and product quality standards. This role organizes inventory, prepares items for shipment, stages packing materials and finished goods, operates and monitors packaging equipment, and maintains a clean and safe workstation while collaborating closely with the production team. Responsibilities • Follow all safety, cGMP, and food safety guidelines as defined by the company’s Food Safety and Quality Programs and HACCP plan., • Operate and monitor packaging machinery in accordance with company procedures and safety standards., • Perform equipment setup, adjustments, and changeovers based on production schedules and product specifications., • Monitor the production process and follow production guidelines and specifications to ensure consistent output., • Conduct regular quality checks of packaged goods to ensure they meet established quality and food safety standards., • Monitor packaging materials and supplies and replenish them as needed to keep production running smoothly., • Report any food quality or food safety issues or concerns promptly to a supervisor., • Report any machine failures and clearly describe the frequency and type of failure to support timely maintenance., • Organize inventory and ensure that production equipment and workstations are properly stocked with materials., • Prepare items for shipment, including packing, labeling, and staging finished goods for distribution., • Work collaboratively on a production line, supporting team members to meet production goals., • Document production and quality information for QA and traceability as required., • Perform inspection of products and packaging, including visual checks for small defects and color distinctions., • Maintain a clean, orderly, and sanitary work area in compliance with cleanroom and GMP requirements., • Clean and sanitize workstations, tools, and equipment as needed to support food safety standards., • Handle and pack various sizes of bars and other products carefully to maintain product integrity., • Follow instructions from management and perform other related duties as assigned.Essential Skills, • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively on a production line., • Good communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus., • Willingness and ability to learn new tasks and adapt to changing production needs., • Flexibility with scheduling and the ability to work multiple shifts as required., • Problem-solving skills to identify and address basic production and packaging issues., • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (medium work)., • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours and for sustained periods of time., • Capability to extend hands and arms in any direction for packing and equipment operation., • Ability to apply pressure to objects with fingers and palm for handling and packaging tasks., • Ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels and receive detailed information through oral communication., • Visual ability to perform inspections involving small defects and to distinguish colors., • Ability to express and exchange ideas clearly through spoken word., • Capability to bend at the waist, and to bend the body downwards and forward by bending legs and spine., • Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks, including going up and down stairs., • Comfort working around moving mechanical parts such as conveyors., • Ability to work in a refrigerated environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience in production, general labor, or packing roles in a manufacturing or food production environment., • Experience working in cleanroom or GMP-regulated environments., • Familiarity with monitoring production of various product sizes and documenting reports for QA and traceability., • Experience with inspection and packaging processes in a food manufacturing setting., • Comfort working with and handling bar-shaped products on a production line.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role operates in a food manufacturing facility that follows strict GMP and food safety guidelines, including HACCP and SQF standards. The standard schedule runs Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with flexibility required to work multiple shifts as needed. The environment includes refrigerated areas and exposure to moving mechanical parts such as conveyors. Team members work on production lines and in clean, controlled areas where strict hygiene practices apply. Dress code includes compliance with GMP requirements, which prohibit jewelry and make-up, and may include additional protective clothing or equipment as provided by the employer. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Piscataway, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
