Job DescriptionJob Title: CNC Machinist Job Description The CNC Machinist sets up and operates manual and CNC machining equipment to produce low-volume specialty parts for engineered products. This role works from engineering drawings and blueprints to hold close tolerances, collaborates with engineers and designers on manufacturability and prototypes, and ensures parts meet quality standards using precision measurement tools. The position is ideal for a hands-on machinist who enjoys a creative engineering environment and is eager to expand their skills on new equipment. Responsibilities • Operate CNC milling machines, manual mills (such as Bridgeport), and manual engine lathes to produce precision components., • Machine, fabricate, and assist with sub-assembly of low-volume specialty parts for engineered products., • Work independently from engineering drawings, blueprints, and sketches to achieve and maintain close tolerances., • Collaborate with engineers and designers on fixture setup, tooling selection, manufacturability, and prototype iterations., • Use precision measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and height gauges, to verify quality and maintain dimensional accuracy., • Work with a variety of materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, carbon steel, and various plastics., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment by following established safety and quality procedures., • Participate in the integration and setup of new machining equipment as capabilities expand., • Communicate effectively with engineering and production team members to resolve technical issues and improve processes., • Document work as needed, including basic use of MS Excel and MS Word for tracking, reporting, or communication.Essential Skills, • 3–5 years of machining or manufacturing experience preferred., • Proficiency with manual lathes, drill presses, and manual milling machines., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and tolerancing requirements., • Experience working with Quality Control, precision measurement tools, and inspection methods., • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with engineers, designers, and team members., • Familiarity with MS Excel and MS Word for basic documentation and communication., • High level of organization and attention to detail to consistently hold close tolerances., • Ability to work both independently and as part of small engineering teams.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience operating CNC machines is helpful but not required; training is provided., • Comfort working with a range of materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, carbon steel, and plastics., • Interest in learning new machining technologies and participating in equipment integration., • A proactive, hands-on approach in a creative engineering environment.Why Work Here? Standard shop attire suitable for a machining environment is expected, with adherence to all safety procedures and protective equipment requirements.
