Job DescriptionJob Title: Electrical Foreman Job Description This role leads electrical installation and troubleshooting work on high-end retail and large commercial projects. The Electrical Foreman oversees conduit and wiring installations, fire alarm systems, lighting and dimming systems, HVAC-related electrical components, and ensures all work complies with New York City and National Electrical Codes. The position requires hands-on expertise with conduit bending, wire pulling equipment, and electrical safety practices, as well as the ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings and supervise others in delivering high-quality workmanship. Responsibilities • Bend, thread, and install EMT, aluminum, and galvanized conduit from 1/2" through 4" using manual and hydraulic benders., • Operate pulling machines, threading tools, hydraulic benders, and related equipment safely and efficiently., • Install, wire, and terminate fire alarm systems in accordance with fire alarm schematics and New York City Fire Alarm Code., • Perform data cabling work, including Cat6 and RJ45 terminations, ensuring clean and reliable terminations., • Read and interpret electrical drawings, reflected ceiling plans (RCPs), elevations, and dimensional layouts to plan and execute installations., • Wire and install receptacles, lighting fixtures, and switching devices, including systems with dimming capabilities., • Install, program, and troubleshoot lighting and dimming control systems to ensure proper operation., • Install and connect electrical components for HVAC equipment such as condensing units, air handlers, and condensate pumps., • Install disconnect switches, end-of-line boxes, cabinets, transformers, meter banks, troughs, and wiremold systems., • Set up and troubleshoot 3-way and 4-way switching circuits and diagnose electrical faults, shorts, and poor connections., • Apply full knowledge of electrical panels, live parts, and live work practices to perform tasks safely and in compliance with electrical safety standards., • Perform load calculations and select appropriate conductors and protective devices using AWG to MCM knowledge., • Ensure all work complies with New York City and National Electrical Codes and internal quality standards., • Guide and direct electricians and helpers, providing clear instructions and ensuring safe work practices on site., • Carry out instructions from project leadership accurately and efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality., • Assist with wiring office fit-out spaces, including conduit installation, wire pulling, and device installation., • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with electrical systems, including panels, circuits, and equipment connections., • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure tools and equipment are used and stored safely.Essential Skills, • Proven experience as an electrical foreman or senior electrician on commercial and retail projects., • Advanced skills in bending, threading, and installing EMT, aluminum, and galvanized conduit from 1/2" through 4"., • Full operational skills with pulling machines, threading tools, and hydraulic benders., • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, RCPs, elevations, and dimensional plans., • Experience wiring and installing receptacles, lighting, switching, and dimming systems., • Ability to install and troubleshoot dimming and lighting control systems., • Strong knowledge of electrical panels, live parts, live work practices, and electrical safety., • NFPA 70E training and demonstrated application of electrical safety procedures., • Good knowledge of New York City Electrical Code and National Electrical Code., • Ability to perform load calculations and familiarity with conductor sizes from AWG to MCM., • Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical faults, shorts, and poor connections, including 3-way and 4-way switching circuits., • Basic to advanced knowledge of condensing units, air handlers, and condensate pumps from an electrical standpoint., • Ability to work safely, follow detailed instructions, and maintain a strong commitment to quality work., • OSHA 30 certification., • SST (Site Safety Training) certification., • Strong work ethic and consistent focus on delivering high-quality installations.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with data cabling, including Cat6 and RJ45 terminations., • Experience wiring office fit-out spaces, including conduit installation and device wiring., • Basic electrical concepts, including wire pulling, box mounting, and splicing., • Operational knowledge of pulling machines, threading tools, and hydraulic benders beyond basic use., • Basic knowledge of conduit bending formulas and hydraulic bender setup., • Basic knowledge of electrical panels and live parts with an emphasis on safe work practices., • Basic knowledge of New York City and National Electrical Codes for code-compliant installations., • Familiarity with AWG conductor sizes to at least #6., • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems in commercial environments, including panels, circuits, and equipment., • Ability to follow directions from foremen or mechanics and work effectively as part of a field team.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based on active construction and fit-out sites in and around Carteret, NJ, with work typically starting at 6:00 AM. You will work for a large private commercial electrical contractor focused on high-end retail and large commercial projects in collaboration with major general contractors. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, involving regular use of pulling machines, threading tools, hydraulic benders, and other electrical installation equipment. Work is performed in commercial buildings and retail spaces under typical construction site conditions, which may include standing, bending, and working at heights or in confined areas. Appropriate jobsite attire and personal protective equipment are required at all times to maintain a safe and professional work environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carteret, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $37.00/hr.
