As we continue our rapid national expansion, we are seeking an experienced Senior Mortgage Underwriter with a strong Non-QM background to join our growing credit team. You'll play a critical role in evaluating residential mortgage transactions ranging from agency loans to sophisticated Non-QM scenarios, helping drive sound credit decisions while maintaining a high standard of service and responsiveness. You will work within: • A professional environment built on accountability and trust, • Defined productivity and turnaround expectations, • Direct access to leadership and operational support, • A culture that prioritizes professionalism, teamwork, and results, • Flexibility designed to support both individual success and organizational growth Responsibilities: • Underwrite Non-QM loan products including DSCR, bank statement, asset utilization, and alternative income programs, • Analyze borrower creditworthiness, income, assets, liabilities, and overall risk profiles, • Review complex self-employed and non-traditional income scenarios, • Evaluate appraisals, collateral risk, marketability, and property characteristics, • Ensure loans meet investor guidelines, internal credit standards, and regulatory requirements, • Issue clear and well-supported underwriting decisions and conditions, • Communicate effectively with processors, loan officers, and management regarding loan structure and credit concerns, • Provide scenario guidance and product support to internal teams, • Maintain quality, accuracy, and service level expectations, • Stay current on investor guidelines, overlays, and regulatory changes, • Assist with training and mentoring less experienced underwriting staff as needed Requirements: • 3+ years of recent mortgage underwriting experience, • Demonstrated experience underwriting Non-QM products, including DSCR + bank statement programs, • Agency underwriting experience, including Conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loans preferred, • Experience evaluating complex self-employed borrower income, • Strong appraisal review and collateral analysis experience, • Encompass experience required, • Solid understanding of federal and state mortgage regulations, including TILA, RESPA, and Fair Lending requirements, • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Professional demeanor aligned with a high-touch client and referral partner experience, • Ability to perform successfully in an in-office, hybrid, or remote environment with clear accountability and performance expectations If you are an experienced mortgage underwriter seeking a stable, growth-oriented environment where your expertise and judgment are valued, we encourage you to apply and learn more about Elliman Capital.
