Job Description Job Title: Sheet Metal Mechanic Job Description We are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Mechanic specializing in HVAC installation to fabricate, assemble, and install HVAC duct systems and equipment on commercial construction projects. This role requires expertise in layout from drawings, safe operation of sheet metal tools, precise fit-up and sealing to specifications, and collaboration with foremen and other trades to meet schedule and quality standards. Responsibilities • Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork using galvanized, stainless, and aluminum materials., • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical plans, and shop drawings to execute installations., • Install rectangular and round duct systems, including offsets, transitions, and sealing., • Set rooftop units, air handlers, VAVs, dampers, and grills/registers., • Measure, cut, shear, notch, and assemble sheet metal using hand and power tools., • Perform field takeoffs, coordinate with other trades, and complete punch-list tasks., • 3+ years of commercial HVAC sheet metal installation experience., • Proficiency with Pittsburgh machines, brakes, shears, spot welders, snips, and drills., • Knowledge of SMACNA standards, seal classes, and airflow fundamentals., • Ability to rig and hang duct, set equipment, and align connections to code and specifications., • Preferred experience with TAB coordination, start-up support, and change orders., • OSHA 10/30 certification, aerial lift certification, and basic hand tools. Work Environment Work in active commercial construction sites such as schools, healthcare facilities, office buildings, and light industrial environments. Experience varied indoor and outdoor conditions, including rooftops and mechanical rooms, in a team-oriented setting alongside general contractors, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trades. PPE is required, with frequent use of lifts, ladders, and power tools. Expect fast-paced, milestone-driven schedules with occasional nights and weekends. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $37.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
