Responsible for performing all vascular ultrasound studies including carotid duplex, upper and lower extremity venous and arterial duplex studies, abdominal aortic studies, renal artery duplex studies, iliocaval duplex studies, mesenteric duplex studies, plethysmography, and ankle-brachial index studies. Job Responsibilities: Demonstrates knowledge of NYU policies and protocols and incorporates them into the performance of duties. Technologist explains the procedure and equipment to the patient clearly and provides patient privacy. Creates a preliminary report based upon completion of the scan.? Documents the scans according to departmental procedures.? Enters, maintains and records all pertinent patient data.? Must use good judgment when determining if the procedure was sufficient for proper diagnoses. Usage of highly technical equipment to perform ultrasound studies.? Alerts medical staff of abnormalities that require immediate attention. Compares present echovascular studies to previous studies to monitor changes in status. Assists with maintaining accreditation compliance and documentation (IAC or ACR) and submitting appropriate studies to management for accreditation application. Job Description \n \n Performs ultrasound exams for interpretation to aid in patient diagnosis. Utilizes independent judgment in the application of non-ionizing, high frequency ultrasonic waves for diagnosis of disease. Collaborates with clinicians to ensure appropriateness of studies and performs related administrative tasks. \n Job Responsibility \n \n 1.Prepares patient for ultrasound exam. Positions patient on examination table according to departmental standard operating procedures. Explains procedures in layman’s terms to relieve patient of pre-testing anxiety. 2.Obtains pertinent imaging and diagnostic reports required for correlation with ultrasound exam being performed. 3.Consults with referring physician regarding patient history and to determine appropriate ultrasound exam required. 4.Sets up equipment to administer particular exam in a timely fashion. Uses settings on machines to assure accurate results, using technical judgment. 5.Performs ultrasound procedures and recognizes significance of structures visualized in the oscilloscope and differentiates artifacts from normal or pathologic processes. 6.Determines need for more extensive evaluations beyond preliminary instructions. 7.Observes patient during entire examination. Recognizes and reports any changes in patient’s condition and/or motor abnormality complaints by patient including: fainting, discoloration, etc. in accordance with procedures. 8.Documents image details and labels study. Maintains records and logs exams performed. 9.Performs frequent calibration checks/adjustments on ultrasound equipment and troubleshoots mechanical problems, as necessary. 10.Performs related duties as required. Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Cardiac Sonographer, Per Diem / Cardio Non-Invasive. In this role, the successful candidate performs all types of Echocardiography testing. Assists the physicians in the delivery of safe, age appropriate patient care during testing in the Echocardiography Lab. Works collaboratively with the RNs and MDs in a health team forum to promote wellness and optimize patient outcomes and quality care. Participates in unit/department/institution performance improvement activities that impact patient and service outcomes based on professional practice standards. Job Responsibilities: • Performs other duties as assigned., • Performs transthorachic echocardiograms, stress echo (both exercise and pharmacological) per department and management guidelines. Captures digital cardiac images and performs measurements correctly, recognizing pathology and/or customizes exam requiring contrast agent accordingly due to lack of image quality., • Responds to stat calls accordingly. Reports life threatening pathology to attending Physician or Fellow., • Responsible for the preparation of echocardiogram procedure including but not limited to equipment, supplies, instruments and appropriate paperwork., • Participates in orientation of new employees as needed.
