In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for performing all cardiac ultrasound studies including echocardiograms, treadmill stress echocardiograms, pharmacological stress echocardiograms, echocardiograms with ultrasound enhancing agents and agitated saline studies. Responsible for performing all vascular ultrasound studies including carotid duplex, upper and lower extremity venous and arterial duplex studies, abdominal aortic studies, renal artery duplex studies, iliocaval duplex studies, mesenteric duplex studies, plethysmography, and ankle-brachial index studies. Job Responsibilities: Demonstrates knowledge of NYU policies and protocols and incorporates them into the performance of duties. Performs all cardiac ultrasound studies including echocardiograms, treadmill stress echocardiograms, pharmacological stress echocardiograms, echocardiograms with ultrasound enhancing agents and agitated saline studies. Performs all vascular ultrasound studies including carotid duplex, upper and lower extremity venous and arterial duplex studies, abdominal aortic studies, renal artery duplex studies, iliocaval duplex studies, mesenteric duplex studies, plethysmography, and ankle-brachial index studies. All studies must adhere to NYU protocols as well as IAC and ACR standards. Provides for patient comfort and interacts with patient by identifying self to patient and verifies identity of the patient by checking the patient's ID bracelet or verbal acknowledgement by patient.? Technologist explains the procedure and equipment to the patient clearly and provides patient privacy. Creates a preliminary report based upon completion of the scan.? Documents the scans according to departmental procedures.? Enters, maintains and records all pertinent patient data.? Must use good judgment when determining if the procedure was sufficient for proper diagnoses. Usage of highly technical equipment to perform ultrasound studies.? Alerts medical staff of abnormalities that require immediate attention. Compares present echovascular studies to previous studies to monitor changes in status. Assists with maintaining accreditation compliance and documentation (IAC or ACR) and submitting appropriate studies to management for accreditation application. Position may require lifting, pushing, or moving patients and equipment over 150 pounds, with or without assistive devices. Carries out assignments within a realistic time.? Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Associate's degree in a related field and completion of an accredited program in cardiac and vascular ultrasound or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) and Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) OR with Cardiovascular Credentialing International as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) and Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS). Job Description \n \n Performs ultrasound exams for interpretation to aid in patient diagnosis. Utilizes independent judgment in the application of non-ionizing, high frequency ultrasonic waves for diagnosis of disease. Collaborates with clinicians to ensure appropriateness of studies and performs related administrative tasks. \n Job Responsibility \n \n 1.Prepares patient for ultrasound exam. Positions patient on examination table according to departmental standard operating procedures. Explains procedures in layman’s terms to relieve patient of pre-testing anxiety. 2.Obtains pertinent imaging and diagnostic reports required for correlation with ultrasound exam being performed. 3.Consults with referring physician regarding patient history and to determine appropriate ultrasound exam required. 4.Sets up equipment to administer particular exam in a timely fashion. Uses settings on machines to assure accurate results, using technical judgment. 5.Performs ultrasound procedures and recognizes significance of structures visualized in the oscilloscope and differentiates artifacts from normal or pathologic processes. 6.Determines need for more extensive evaluations beyond preliminary instructions. 7.Observes patient during entire examination. Recognizes and reports any changes in patient’s condition and/or motor abnormality complaints by patient including: fainting, discoloration, etc. in accordance with procedures. 8.Documents image details and labels study. Maintains records and logs exams performed. 9.Performs frequent calibration checks/adjustments on ultrasound equipment and troubleshoots mechanical problems, as necessary. 10.Performs related duties as required. Ultrasound Technician Ultrasound Technicians balance patient interaction and technological performance with a firm knowledge of anatomy and pathology by working cohesively with our Provider teams. As team players, they are instrumental in ensuring our patients feel welcomed, heard, and always respected. The Ultrasound Technologist plays a critical role in the diagnostic imaging team by performing high-quality ultrasound examinations to assist physicians in diagnosing medical conditions. This position requires the technologist to operate sophisticated ultrasound equipment to capture images of patients’ internal organs, tissues, and blood flow with precision and care. The technologist must ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure while adhering to established protocols and standards. They are responsible for accurately documenting findings and collaborating closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to support effective patient care. Ultimately, the Ultrasound Technologist contributes to timely and accurate diagnoses that directly impact treatment decisions and patient outcomes. Ultrasound Technician Responsibilities • Prepare and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring it is clean, calibrated, and functioning properly before each use., • Conduct ultrasound examinations by positioning patients correctly and applying appropriate scanning techniques to obtain clear diagnostic images., • Review images for quality and completeness, making adjustments as necessary to capture the required views., • Explain procedures to patients, addressing any questions or concerns to ensure their comfort and cooperation during the exam., • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, documenting procedures performed and any relevant observations., • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare providers by providing preliminary observations and assisting in image interpretation when needed., • Adhere to all safety protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements to protect patients and staff., • Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with advances in ultrasound technology and best practices., • Absolute and unwavering commitment to teamwork and the values of HCFAW, • Welcome patients by greeting them in person!, • Verify patient information by interviewing patient, reviewing medical history, confirming purpose of visit., • Performing the ultrasound exam and following exam protocols., • Explaining the ultrasound procedure to patient as needed., • Maintaining ultrasound equipment, keeping the exam room supplied and clean., • Consistently and reliably producing quality diagnostic imaging., • Accurately completing and reviewing reports., • Uploading reports in a timely manner, • Presenting images and preliminary findings to the Providers, • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment. The Ultrasound Technologist utilizes technical skills daily to operate and adjust ultrasound equipment, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis. Strong communication skills are essential for explaining procedures to patients and collaborating with physicians and healthcare staff. Attention to detail is critical when capturing images and documenting findings to maintain high standards of patient care and compliance. Problem-solving skills help the technologist adapt to challenging imaging scenarios and patient needs. Additionally, ongoing learning and adaptability enable the technologist to stay current with evolving ultrasound technologies and clinical protocols. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Ultrasound Technology program. Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or equivalent credential. Valid state licensure or certification as required by the employing facility or jurisdiction. Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to ultrasound imaging. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and healthcare team members. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with specialized ultrasound procedures such as vascular, obstetric, or cardiac sonography. Additional certifications in specialty areas (e.g., Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)). Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and image archiving software. Prior experience working in a hospital or outpatient imaging center setting. Bilingual abilities or experience working with diverse patient populations. Education and Ultrasound Experience: Ultrasound Certified ARDMS Certification NT Certification OB/Gyn (2-5years experience) Personal Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients. Must be detail-oriented and highly organized. Must be able to perform quality exams in a high-volume environment. A firm grasp of medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies Must have a working knowledge of OB/GYN patient care and related procedures. Always maintain patient confidentiality Promptly greets, assists, and directs patients and visitors in a pleasant and professional manner.
