About Us Helbraun Levey is the premier law firm in New York City for bars, restaurants, hotels, chefs, developers and all food and beverage outlets. We represent first-time entrepreneurs, multi-unit operators, hotel F&B management groups, general managers, chefs, developers, and all other industry folks. There are many law firms that dabble in the hospitality industry, but none of them have our experience or our commitment to New York City’s hospitality professionals. The firm is seeking a talented mid-level transactional attorney to join our real estate/transactional group catering to New York’s hospitality industry as well as its emerging recreational cannabis industry. The ideal candidate is well-organized, responsible, and is an effective communicator. This individual will manage their own caseload and should have professional office experience. Experience/knowledge of the NY hospitality, food, and beverage industry is a plus. Responsibilities Include • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating retail leases with a focus on tenant representation., • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating ancillary documents—for example, term sheets/letters of intent, assignments of lease, amendments of lease, and surrenders of lease., • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating asset purchase agreements including, but not limited to, term sheets/letters of intent, due diligence, lease negotiation, and closing (sell and buy-side representation)., • Communicating directly with clients, counseling them on transactional strategies, and offering legal risk assessments., • Managing project timelines and taking personal responsibility for a heavy caseload, supporting transactions and due diligence from start to finish., • Interacting with clients via email and phone while providing excellent customer service and a high level of professionalism.Skills Required:, • Admitted to practice law in the State of New York., • 4 or more years of commercial real estate transactional experience, specifically in lease drafting, reviewing, and negotiating., • Excellent communication, writing/drafting, and interpersonal skills., • Outstanding organizational, project management, and prioritized multitasking abilities., • A strong ability to give and receive feedback., • Detail-oriented and able to function well independently, as well as part of a team-centric environment., • Critical thinking with the ability to adapt and learn new processes quickly., • Ability to consistently demonstrate professionalism and good judgment., • Computer literacy, including but not limited to the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat. The candidate we are seeking is an excellent legal drafter and a proactive, energetic, and hardworking team player (ideally with a passion for food and the hospitality industry generally!). The candidate must have the ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment and possess great analytical and communication skills.
