Eurocities is recruiting a project officer to support our work on cities and science‑based policy, with a focus on delivering the final phase of the CitiObs Horizon Europe project, which deals with citizen science and its role in policymaking. As the project enters its final year, the focus is on: • supporting knowledge exchange and peer learning among Citizen Observatories,, • translating results into policy‑relevant outputs and engagement activities, and, • ensuring strong dissemination, uptake and sustainability of results beyond the project’s lifetime.Responsibilities The successful candidate will join the Learning and Research Team and play a key role in ensuring high‑quality implementation, strong policy engagement, effective dissemination and a lasting legacy of the project’s results. As project officer, you will support the CitiObs Project Coordinator in delivering the final phase of the project, including strategic policy engagement activities aimed at increasing opportunities for using citizen science in policymaking across EU, national and local government levels. As part of the Learning and Research Team, you will also contribute more broadly to the work stream on cities and science‑based policies, especially when it comes to strengthening capacities for interfaces between city governments, policymaking and science, including academia and research actors. For the CitiObs project, you will be expected to: • Contribute to the development of Policy Briefs and other knowledge products on selected topics related to citizen science and policy, for example by carrying out background research, gathering data from Citizen Observatories and project records, supporting the drafting of policy recommendations, and other editorial tasks as required., • Support the planning, execution and communication around a series of online and face‑to‑face policy engagement activities and events., • Support logistical and administrative aspects of the project, including meeting logistics and final project reporting., • Contribute to the capitalization of CitiObs project results, translating them into knowledge and capacity building products that can be used by Eurocities beyond the project lifetime. To support Eurocities’ broader cities and science work stream and the Learning and Research team’s mission, you will: • Support the development of capacity‑building and training materials on city–science interfaces, including but not limited to the integration of citizen science into local policymaking processes., • Liaise with the City Science Initiative community and other relevant stakeholders to help refine the training offer and ensure its relevance and practical value for city governments., • Contribute to the team’s broader mission, and to Eurocities’ mandate, to develop training and capacity‑building offers for members on current and future urban challenges, while also producing intelligence that can support Eurocities’ capacity‑building and advocacy efforts., • Contribute to knowledge management efforts and the development of simple tools and practices to strengthen knowledge capture and use across teams.Profile You are a proactive, organised and collaborative early‑stage professional with a strong interest in citizen science, urban policy and EU‑funded projects, and with a willingness to grow professionally within a team. You are comfortable working in high‑pace environments and dealing with multiple tasks and priorities in parallel. Required skills and experience The skills and experience to do this job successfully include: • 1‑2 years of relevant professional experience, • Master’s degree in political science, international relations, sustainable development, public administration, EU affairs, urban studies, or a similar field, • Motivation and ability to learn new topics quickly, • Strong communication and writing skills, • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, in a team as well as in multi‑stakeholder project settings, • Knowledge about urban policy in the EU context, • Organised and accurate, able to meet deadlines, • Experience in organising workshops and events, • Professional proficiency in English, spoken and written We are looking for a candidate who is available and able to get on board at very short notice, with Monday 1 June 2026 as starting date. Assets • Experience working with cities, local governments or public sector partners., • Experience from working in EU projects, preferably Horizon Europe or similar programmes., • Knowledge of citizen science and science‑policy interfaces.We offer, • A full‑time position as employee, under Spanish legislation.
