No /ph3Offer Description /h3pbARQUIMEA /b , we are a btechnology company /b operating globally and providing innovate solutions and products in highly demanding sectors. /ppOur areas of activity are bAerospace, Defense Security, Big Science, Biotechnology and Fintech. /b /ppbMain function and scope: /b /ppWe are looking forb Power Electronics Engineer /b with solid experience in power distribution systems, PCB design and hardware validation to join our Power Electronics Engineering Team. /ppThe successful candidate will contribute to the development and validation of advanced power electronics hardware for embedded and electromechanical systems operating in technically demanding environments. /ppThe role spans the full development cycle, from schematic design and PCB layout through to prototype bring-up, hardware testing and system-level validation and involves close collaboration with firmware, control, mechanical, and systems engineering teams. /ppThis position is especially suited to an engineer who combines strong theoretical foundations in power electronics with a practical, hands-on approach to design and validation. The candidate will participate in multidisciplinary RD and product-oriented projects where hardware reliability, electromagnetic compatibility, thermal performance and design traceability are critical requirements. /ppThe candidate is not expected to be a senior expert in every area. We are looking for someone with solid power electronics fundamentals, good technical judgement and a strong motivation to design, build, test and improve real hardware systems. /ppWe are looking for curious, creative, tenacious and collaborative people, eager to build real things and unafraid to tackle hardware challenges in order to contribute to the advancement of highly demanding technology sectors. /ppThe ideal candidate is someone who enjoys designing, building and validating real hardware systems, learning from test results, diagnosing failures at the bench and working in close contact with multidisciplinary engineering teams. We value strong technical intuition, attention to detail, design ownership and a proactive attitude over very extensive prior experience. /ppbKey responsibilities: /b /ppDesign and develop power electronics hardware for embedded systems, including DC/DC converters, inverters, motor drives, battery management circuits, power distribution architectures and associated protection circuitry. /ppCreate and maintain schematics, PCB layouts, bills of materials, assembly drawings and technical documentation using Altium Designer or equivalent EDA tools. /ppDefine and apply PCB design rules for high-power and mixed-signal boards, including polygon pour strategies, thermal via placement, layer stack-up selection, controlled impedance routing and design-for-manufacturability considerations. /ppSupport the selection, evaluation and benchmarking of power semiconductors, gate drivers, passive components, magnetic components, connectors and other critical hardware elements. /ppDefine, plan and execute hardware testing and validation activities, including functional verification, electrical characterisation, thermal profiling, efficiency mapping, EMC pre-compliance checks and fault-injection testing. /ppSet up laboratory test benches, design test fixtures and implement measurement procedures using oscilloscopes, power analysers, thermal cameras, network analysers and other relevant instrumentation. /ppPerform design verification against system-level electrical, thermal and safety requirements; document results, identify deviations and propose corrective design actions. /ppContribute to the analysis and resolution of hardware failures and unexpected behaviours observed during integration, testing or field operation. /ppSupport simulation and modelling activities for power converter topologies, control loops, thermal networks and electromagnetic behaviour, using tools such as LTSPICE, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent. /ppCollaborate with firmware and embedded systems teams to support hardware bring-up, peripheral configuration and hardware/software co-validation activities. /ppMaintain clear and traceable technical documentation, including design rationale, test plans, test reports, assembly procedures and revision histories. /ppProvide hardware feedback to systems, control and mechanical teams based on integration constraints, measured performance and real-world operating conditions. /ppParticipate in design reviews, component selection reviews and validation milestone assessments within the project team. /ppbCandidate requirements: /b /ppDegree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics, Industrial Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or similar. /ppProven experience in power electronics design, including DC/DC conversion, power distribution, inverter or motor drive topologies, or battery management systems. /ppStrong knowledge of power electronics fundamentals: converter topologies, switching behaviour, passive component selection, thermal design, losses analysis and protection strategies. /ppProficiency in PCB design using Altium Designer, with demonstrated experience in high-power and/or mixed-signal board layout. /ppUnderstanding of PCB design constraints for power electronics: current-carrying capacity, thermal management, signal integrity, EMI mitigation and design-for-test. /ppPractical experience in hardware testing and validation: ability to define test procedures, set up laboratory environments, operate electronic test equipment and document results rigorously. /ppFamiliarity with power electronics simulation tools (e.g. LTSPICE, PLECS, PSIM or equivalent) for circuit-level verification and control loop analysis. /ppAbility to read and produce electrical schematics, component datasheets and technical specifications. /ppAbility to work with evolving requirements, incomplete information and technical uncertainty while maintaining a structured and methodical engineering approach. /ppStrong willingness to learn new technologies, take ownership of hardware tasks and contribute across disciplinary boundaries. /ppGood communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with electronics, firmware, mechanical, systems and testing teams. /ppStrong communication skills in English, both written and spoken. /ppWillingness to relocate to the Canary Islands. /ppbAny relevant experience related to the following is a plus: /b /ppExperience with battery management system (BMS) design: cell monitoring, state-of-charge estimation, cell balancing, protection circuits and communication interfaces (SMBus, CAN, I²C). /ppExperience with gate driver design and selection for SiC or GaN power devices operating at high switching frequencies. /ppKnowledge of motor drive architectures, including three-phase inverters, FOC/SVPWM control and associated power stage design. /ppExperience with digital twin modelling, co-simulation or hardware-in-the-loop validation of power electronic systems. /ppExperience with industrial or embedded connectivity standards used in power systems (e.g. CAN, EtherCAT, 10BASE-T1S, Modbus, CANopen or similar). /ppKnowledge of EMC design techniques, pre-compliance testing methodologies and filtering strategies for power electronic hardware. /ppExperience with thermal management solutions: heatsink selection, forced-air cooling, heat pipe integration and thermal interface materials. /ppFamiliarity with design and qualification standards for aerospace, defence or industrial power electronics (e.g. MIL-STD-704, DO-160, IEC 60950 or equivalent). /ppExperience with Python or MATLAB scripting for automated test data acquisition, post-processing, reporting or hardware characterisation. /ppBackground in applied research or early-stage product development with strong hardware uncertainty. /ppExperience using Confluence, Git or similar tools for technical documentation and version control in collaborative engineering environments. /ppThis position can be based either at bNanotec Building, San Cristóbal de La Laguna (Tenerife). /b /ppWe're looking for bcurious, creative, tenacious /b and bcollaborative people /b, eager to do things and unafraid to tackle challenges in order to contribute to improving the society in wich we live. /ppbThink Big, Do the Job Enjoy Life /b /ppAt ARQUIMEA, we value diversity and inclusion.
