About Northern Ecom Genies Northern Ecom Genies is a Spain-based subsidiary of a well-established Danish e-commerce company founded in 2014. Our mission is to support and strengthen key operational functions across the business, including purchasing, product sourcing, administration, customer service, marketing, finance, and other business-critical support tasks. We are now hiring our first employee in Spain. This is a unique opportunity to join at an early stage and play an important role in building efficient, high-quality support functions for a growing e-commerce business. You will work directly with the CEO and be expected to operate with a high level of independence, ownership, and responsibility. About the role We are looking for an experienced, structured, and highly self-driven purchasing and sourcing profile with strong experience from e-commerce, retail, product sourcing, or inventory-driven operations. This is not an entry-level role. We are specifically looking for someone who has already worked hands-on with purchasing products, managing suppliers, handling stock-related issues, and making independent purchasing decisions. The ideal candidate has a strong commercial understanding of products, margins, stock levels, supplier terms, and operational purchasing flows. You should be comfortable taking responsibility for a large product catalog and making structured decisions without close day-to-day supervision. We already have a large and active product catalog with more than 10,000 existing products, so being organized, analytical, and detail-oriented is essential. A large part of our current purchasing flow is already automated, and we expect automation to improve further over time. However, there will always be exceptions, supplier issues, stock challenges, optimizations, and new opportunities that require an experienced and capable person to take ownership. The role is primarily remote, but we expect in-person workdays at a shared office in the Málaga / Fuengirola / Benalmádena area approximately 1–2 times per month. Key responsibilities Your main responsibility will be to support and improve purchasing, sourcing, and product-related operations. You will be expected to: • Take ownership of purchasing tasks related to existing products, • Independently handle procurement-related issues involving stock, suppliers, orders, logistics, and product availability, • Monitor and evaluate product performance, stock levels, purchasing terms, and supplier conditions, • Identify opportunities to improve margins, purchase quantities, shipping methods, lead times, and supplier agreements, • Evaluate whether high-performing products can be sourced on better terms or from alternative suppliers, • Research and identify new products with potential for the Nordic consumer market, • Support the development of better sourcing and purchasing processes over time, • Work with a large product catalog and maintain a structured overview of purchasing-related priorities, • Support ad hoc administrative and operational tasks when needed Required experience and qualifications To be considered for this role, you must have: • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with independent product purchasing, • Experience from e-commerce, retail, product sourcing, procurement, inventory management, or a similar product-driven business, • Experience taking responsibility for purchasing decisions, supplier follow-up, stock-related issues, and product availability, • A strong understanding of product margins, stock levels, supplier terms, and operational purchasing workflows, • The ability to work independently and make structured decisions without close daily supervision, • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with a large number of products and details, • A proactive and problem-solving mindset, • Fluency in written and spoken English, • The ability to work remotely while staying accountable, structured, and productive Important note This role requires practical, hands-on purchasing experience. Candidates without previous experience in product purchasing, procurement, sourcing, retail operations, or e-commerce product management are unlikely to be a strong match for this position. We are looking for someone who can contribute with experience from day one and take ownership of purchasing-related tasks independently. It is a plus if you have • Experience with sourcing, procurement, or trade involving suppliers in China, • Experience with international suppliers, shipping terms, lead times, and product availability challenges, • Experience from a fast-growing e-commerce company, • Experience working with large product catalogs, • Experience using AI tools or “vibe coding” to solve practical business tasks faster and smarter What we offer • A competitive salary of €36,000–€40,000 per year, • A key position as the first hire in Spain, • Direct collaboration with the CEO, • A high degree of flexibility and responsibility, • A role with real ownership and influence, • The chance to help build and improve important parts of a growing e-commerce operation, • Primarily remote work, with occasional in-person workdays in the Málaga area. How to apply After you submit your application here, you will be sent a link to our recruitment portal, where you can upload your CV and give some basic details. After that all applications will be handled through the portal. In your application, please briefly describe your previous hands-on experience with purchasing, sourcing, supplier management, or product-related operations in an e-commerce, retail, or similar business. As part of the application process, we may ask candidates to complete a short practical case so we can better assess structure, problem-solving ability, commercial understanding, and initiative. The job is full time — 40 hours per week.
