Are you passionate about designing operational interfaces that truly improve how critical infrastructures are run? At Qaracter, we are looking for a SCADA HMI Designer / SCADA Front-End Engineer to join high-impact digital transformation projects within the water and utilities sector. You will design, configure, and optimize visual environments that allow operators to monitor processes in real time, detect incidents quickly, and execute actions safely. This role is ideal for professionals who combine industrial process understanding, visual design skills, and technical knowledge of SCADA platforms to deliver intuitive, reliable, and high-performance operational interfaces. 🔍 What You’ll Do 1. SCADA Interface Design (HMI / GUI) • Create operational screens, synoptics, maps, and dashboards for different water-cycle processes, • Apply visual hierarchy, cognitive load reduction, and ISA-101/ISA-18.2 standards, • Manage symbols, colors, alarms, trends, and interactive elements, • Build reusable templates and consistent graphical libraries, • Optimize navigation flows, usability, and response times 2. Front-End Configuration in SCADA Platforms • Work with platforms such as AVEVA/Wonderware System Platform & InTouch, Ignition SCADA, Siemens WinCC, Schneider Citect, GE iFIX, among others, • Configure tags, historians, alarms, user roles, and permissions, • Connect graphical elements to OPC servers, native drivers, or databases, • Adapt screens for control-room monitors, industrial HMIs, and touch panels 3. Operational UX & Industrial Design Standards • Apply High-Performance HMI and ISA design principles, • Build safe, efficient, distraction-free interfaces for real operational context, • Document design decisions and validate with operators, • Participate in FAT/SAT testing and screen tuning sessions 4. Collaboration with Technical & OT Teams • Work closely with control engineers, PLC programmers, data integrators, and OT managers, • Translate functional and operational requirements into visual and interactive components, • Support operations during commissioning and post-deployment adjustments ✔️ What We’re Looking For • Experience designing SCADA HMI/GUI screens in operational environments, • Hands-on experience with one or more SCADA systems (Wonderware/AVEVA, Ignition, WinCC, Citect, iFIX…), • Understanding of industrial processes, especially in water, utilities, or similar environments, • Familiarity with OPC/OPC-UA, industrial communication, and historian systems, • Strong sense of UX for operational contexts, • Full professional proficiency in Spanish and at least B1-B2 English, • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (OT, IT, engineering, data) ⭐ Nice to Have • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, OPC-UA, Ethernet/IP, IoT protocols), • Experience participating in FAT/SAT or commissioning processes, • UI/UX training for industrial environments, • ISA-101 or ISA-18.2 certifications, • Background in engineering: industrial, automation, electronics, telecommunications, or industrial design 🌟 What We Offer • Participation in strategic digital transformation programs, • Competitive compensation package, • Training, certifications, and continuous upskilling opportunities, • Long-term collaboration in an international environment, • Strong focus on people, impact, and professional development 🌍 About Qaracter Qaracter is an international consulting firm specializing in technology, operations, business advisory, and digital transformation.
