Directing early arrivals to the bar as they wait for their tables to become available. Ushering diners to their tables and providing them with menus. Accepting and informing the relevant staff about food and beverage requests. Mixing and pouring beverages, as needed. Transporting food orders from the kitchen to each pertinent table.
Dishwashing: The kitchen porter is responsible for washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans used in the kitchen. They may operate commercial dishwashers or clean dishes manually, ensuring proper sanitation and cleanliness. Cleaning: The kitchen porter is responsible for maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment. This includes sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down countertops and surfaces, and sanitizing equipment and appliances. They may also be responsible for cleaning kitchen walls, storage areas, and refrigeration units. Waste Management: Kitchen porters handle the disposal of waste and recycling materials in accordance with established procedures. They empty trash bins regularly, sort recyclables, and ensure proper waste segregation to maintain cleanliness and adhere to environmental regulations. Stocking and Organizing: Kitchen porters assist in the storage and organization of kitchen supplies, such as food ingredients, cleaning supplies, and utensils. They may be responsible for receiving and unpacking deliveries, checking stock levels, and ensuring items are properly stored and labelled. Assisting Chefs: Kitchen porters support the kitchen staff by performing various tasks to help with food preparation. This may include peeling and chopping vegetables, preparing simple dishes, or fetching ingredients and equipment for the chefs as needed. Maintaining Hygiene Standards: Kitchen porters play a vital role in maintaining high hygiene standards in the kitchen. They adhere to health and safety regulations, follow proper food handling procedures, and maintain personal hygiene by wearing appropriate clothing and protective gear, such as gloves and aprons. Collaboration and Communication: Kitchen porters work as part of a team and communicate effectively with chefs, waitstaff, and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations. They may assist in coordinating activities, handling requests, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen workspace.

Preparing the food for cooking Keeping up with industry trends and creating new recipes with the Sous Chef Reviewing the menu and doing inventory Following the budget set by the Restaurant Manager Ordering food for the kitchen Monitoring food production and food and staff costs Training staff Managing relationships with distributors and resolving any issues with vendors, promptly Ensuring standard portions and quality of dishes Maintaining a clean and safe kitchen and ensuring sanitation practices in the kitchen
