We are looking for an experienced Deputy Payroll Manager to join our HR Operations team and ensure the accurate and timely payment of salaries during this maternity cover period. This is a fixed-term maternity cover contract for 12 months. This is a hybrid role with one day a week in our Manchester office and the rest working from home. About the Role As Deputy Payroll Manager, you will lead and coach the Payroll and Pension Officers to deliver an outstanding service to colleagues across Turning Point. You’ll assist the Payroll Manager in managing end-to-end payroll processes and act as the senior escalation point for complex queries. This role is key to maintaining compliance, improving processes, and driving a culture of continuous improvement and excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities • Manage and coach the payroll team to deliver accurate and timely payroll services, • Support the Payroll Manager and process end-to-end payroll in their absence, • Act as senior escalation point for payroll queries, ensuring swift resolution and minimal impact on colleagues, • Oversee pension processing, including NHS and LGPS schemes, • Develop and monitor SLAs for payroll, reporting monthly and driving improvements, • Maintain and improve payroll processes and systems, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance service delivery, • Proven leadership experience within a payroll environment, • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and trends, • Knowledge of payroll regulations and statutory requirements, • Proficient in Office 365 and comfortable with process improvement initiatives, • Level 5 CIPP qualification or equivalent experience (advantageous) At Turning Point, we value innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement. What We’re Looking For • Five or more years working as an engineer in SaaS or PaaS companies., • Production-grade experience in NestJS and Angular, • Experience implementing comprehensive authentication and authorization solutions (e.g., OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SSO/SAML, RBAC, ABAC, ReBAC). Our system is maintained in-house and this knowledge is critical. As you will be one of the main contributors to a fresh implementation of our identity access management solution., • Experience with long-running asynchronous processes. Your team is often responsible for creating flows that allow financial-institutions to seamlessly onboard and offboard their customers and resources into our platform., • Communication skills and the ability to work effectively in an asynchronous, research-driven engineering environment.
