Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Retrofitter to join our team.
The Retrofitter will be responsible for performing modifications and upgrades to existing buildings or systems to improve their energy efficiency, safety, and overall performance. This role involves assessing current systems, recommending improvements, and installing or modifying components to meet updated standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction, HVAC systems, electrical systems, or other relevant fields, with a strong understanding of energy efficiency and sustainability practices.
Duties
Assessing and Planning: Evaluate current systems and identify areas for improvement.
Installation: Upgrade insulation, HVAC systems, lighting, and other components.
Project Management: Coordinate with suppliers and contractors, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget.
Quality Control: Inspect and test retrofitted systems to ensure they meet safety and efficiency standards.
Documentation: Maintain records of work performed and ensure compliance with regulations.
Requirements
Experience:
Previous experience in retrofitting, construction, HVAC, or a related field.
Familiarity with energy-efficient technologies and renewable energy systems.
Skills:
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.
Additional Requirements:
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
There are no formal academic entry requirements, though GCSEs/S grades are advantageous. Entry is typically through an approved apprenticeship programme or college course in conjunction with on-the-job training, leading to a NVQ/SVQ Level 2/3 qualification, or through building up work experience supplemented with short courses.
