About Us
More Life Home is a not-for-profit organisation working to support vulnerable individuals experiencing furniture poverty in East London. We are passionate about helping people access affordable, good-quality furniture while supporting those living in poverty. We rescue good-quality furniture that might otherwise be sent to landfill and redistribute it to families who cannot afford to furnish their homes. Alongside our furniture workshop in Crossharbour, E14, we have a community events space on Aberfeldy Street, E14, where we bring local people together through activities, workshops and events.

Job Role
The Social Media Assistant will support More Life Home’s social media and digital communications, helping to raise awareness of our work, promote our community activities and events, and engage local residents, supporters and partners. The role will involve preparing and scheduling content, keeping our social channels active, and helping communicate our mission in a clear, engaging and consistent way. We are looking for a freelance creative keen to develop their skills and build their portfolio, with the opportunity to drive measurable growth in our social media presence and showcase the impact of their work.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, creating and scheduling social media content across relevant platforms, including Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • Create engaging posts, captions, Stories and short-form content to promote More Life Home’s services, community events, workshops and campaigns.
  • Help maintain a consistent tone of voice and visual identity across social media channels.
  • Support the promotion of events and activities by preparing content before, during and after each event.
  • Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and messages where appropriate, and help build positive relationships with the community.
  • Keep social media calendars and content trackers up to date, recording planned and published content.
  • Research relevant trends, community topics, hashtags and content ideas to help improve reach and engagement.
  • Review basic social media insights, such as reach, engagement and follower growth, and share findings to help inform future content.
  • Work with the team to gather photographs, videos, updates and stories from projects, events and community activities.
  • Support wider digital marketing tasks when required, such as sharing event listings or helping prepare promotional materials.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience using major social media platforms, particularly Instagram and Facebook.
  • Good written communication and copywriting skills, with an ability to adapt content for different audiences.
  • Creativity and an eye for visual content, with experience creating social media graphics or editing photos and videos.
  • Good organisation and attention to detail, including the ability to manage a content calendar and meet deadlines.
  • Confidence using digital tools and social media scheduling or design platforms.
  • Ability to work independently while communicating clearly and collaboratively with the team.
  • An interest in community work, social impact and More Life Home’s mission.
  • A proactive, flexible approach and willingness to learn.
