Location: North West Hours: 37 hours per week (typically worked over 4 days) Security Clearance: SC required (must already hold or be eligible) The Role We are seeking a Senior Control, Electrical & Instrumentation (CE&I) Design Engineer to provide site-based, frontline design support to commissioning teams on a highly regulated, safety-critical facility. This is a hands-on senior design role, embedded at plant level during commissioning, where issues are identified, investigated and resolved through robust engineering judgement and controlled design change. The role is not focused on routine programming or implementation. Dedicated site teams carry out testing, installation and commissioning activities. Your responsibility is to diagnose problems, develop design solutions, and ensure changes meet functional and business requirements. Key Responsibilities • Provide frontline CE&I design support to commissioning teams during active commissioning., • Investigate faults observed on plant and during commissioning activities., • Develop and modify detailed CE&I designs to resolve commissioning-led issues., • Check detailed design outputs and design changes for technical integrity and compliance., • Ensure design changes meet functional, safety and business needs., • Interface effectively with:, • Commissioning teams (primary interface), • Other engineering disciplines, • Site operations (as required), • Support and mentor early-career engineers within the design team. Qualifications • Minimum HND (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline., • Minimum 5 years' experience delivering as a Senior CE&I Design Engineer., • Proven experience:, • Working on multi-discipline external projects., • Providing site-based design support to commissioning teams., • Delivering, supporting and checking detailed design and design changes., • Working understanding of external standards relating to:, • PES-based control systems, • Strong problem-solving capability., • Clear, confident verbal and written communication skills., • Willingness to work minimum 3 days per week on plant., • Willingness to support and develop junior engineers., • 7+ years' experience at senior level., • Experience on highly regulated or nuclear-adjacent projects., • Working knowledge of Sellafield Ltd (SL) Engineering Standards for:, • PES-based control systems To find out more about Progressive please visit
