VDC (Vehicle Distribution Centre) Operations Manager Location: Southampton, UK (On-site) Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 + £3,000 Car Allowance My client is a recognised leader in finished vehicle logistics, partnering with some of the world’s most prestigious automotive manufacturers, rental providers, leasing companies, and fleet operators. With a reputation built on trust, innovation, and operational excellence, they are seeking an experienced VDC Operations Manager to lead the Vehicle Preparation & Distribution Centre in Southampton. This is a chance to take the reins of a high-volume, fast-paced operation where you’ll shape performance, strengthen customer relationships, and drive continuous improvement across the business. Responsibilities As the VDC Operations Manager, you will take full ownership of site productivity, performance, and compliance. You’ll inspire and lead your team to deliver operational excellence while ensuring every vehicle is prepared and distributed to the highest standard. Key responsibilities include: • Leading, motivating, and developing a team of terminal and technical staff to ensure the site is always well-resourced and equipped with the right skills., • Creating a culture of high performance—celebrating success, addressing challenges, and driving accountability., • Delivering on KPIs and SLAs to guarantee first-class service for customers and stakeholders., • Setting clear objectives and planning effectively to achieve production and efficiency targets., • Producing accurate reports aligned with both company and client requirements., • Developing and executing business strategies to enhance site performance and support growth., • Building strong, long-lasting relationships with customers, ensuring satisfaction at every stage., • Upholding compliance with all company, client, and regulatory standards, with a strong focus on Health & Safety. Essential Requirements To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a proven track record of leading operations in a high-volume environment, ideally within automotive or logistics. You will also need: • 2+ years of operations management experience., • 3+ years of people management experience, with a focus on coaching, performance, and development., • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety practices., • Experience driving strategic change and continuous improvement., • A customer-focused mindset, with excellent relationship management skills., • Hands-on experience with process documentation, planning, and operational control., • Familiarity with Lean methodologies and efficiency tools., • Confidence in managing complex production systems., • Strong IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office., • Project management expertise, with the ability to prioritise effectively in a dynamic setting., • Alignment with the company’s core values: People, Customers, Integrity, and Innovation.
