Assistant Shop Manager The Assistant Shop Manager supports the Shop Manager by overseeing the retail team in their absence, ensuring the store operates smoothly and efficiently. This role involves driving sales, motivating the retail team, leading by example, and consistently maintaining the highest standards of customer service. Hours: 37.5 hours per week, full time and permanent (9-5:30pm) Based at: Lock and Co. Hatters, 6 St. James Street, London, SW1A 1EF. Salary: Based on experience, up to £32k, plus monthly bonus scheme after probationary period. We are closed on Sundays and bank holidays. Key Responsibilities • Ensure the shop is opened promptly each day, including preparing the till with the correct float and monitoring team punctuality and attendance., • Oversee all cleaning procedures to maintain an immaculate shop environment in line with company standards., • Conduct daily checks to ensure sufficient stock of essential supplies, including bags, boxes, stationery, and packaging materials., • Carry out regular floor walks to ensure all products are accurately displayed, well-presented, and maintained to a high standard., • Communicate daily and weekly sales performance updates to the retail team, both verbally and through internal groups, to drive engagement and performance., • Effectively delegate tasks across the retail team to maximise productivity and operational efficiency., • Support and guide our Hatters and Stylists in identifying sales opportunities and delivering exceptional customer service, while promptly and professionally resolving any customer concerns., • Liaise closely with the Shop Manager, or Assistant Shop Manager for Ladieswear in their absence, regarding day-to-day operations, including staffing, sales, and stock management., • Ensure all end-of-day procedures are completed accurately, including cash handling, reconciliation of tills and PDQ systems, and secure storage of funds. Any discrepancies must be reported to the Shop Manager and our Finance team immediately., • Oversee the secure closing of the store, including shutting down equipment, setting alarms, and locking the premises., • Maintain high standards of all customer communications, ensuring they are timely, accurate, and professional at all times. Ongoing Projects • To unite the men’s, women’s and millinery functions into a cohesive team., • To unify the ways of working (stock, staffing, processes) between menswear and womenswear, to ease understanding for all staff., • Ensure all existing staff are brought up-to-speed with the above, and are as at home on menswear or womenswear. This position is full time, permanent, and based in our shop in St. James, near Green Park. The working hours are 9:00-5:30pm, Monday to Saturday. You will be required to work 5 out of 6 days on a Rota basis. About the roles- Demi, Chef de Partie/Sous Chef- all levels You will join the dynamic team of chefs, working in one of the two kitchens. Delivering in all aspects of the menu, crafted from the finest seasonal ingredients. The ultra-fine dining menu will reflect the best of Italian and Mediterranean cuisine at haute cuisine, fulfilling the appetite and curiosity of those who seek the finest experience that luxury Italian cuisine has to offer, along the option of its more casual dining adjacent restaurant offering scrumptious dishes in luxury surroundings. You will have an understanding of Italian cuisine, sharp eye for detail and technical skills. Responsibilities: Develop and create innovative and delicious dishes, ensuring they complement the overall dining experience Maintain a clean and organised workstation at all times Stock control and management awareness Work effectively as part of a Team, collaborating with other Chefs to ensure a smooth service Contribute to the development of new dishes and menu concepts Adhere to all food safety and health and safety regulations. Qualifications: Proven experience as a Chef in a Michelin starred or fine dining Italian/Mediterranean kitchen Proven experience in your capacity in a well-established Hospitality venue Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Commitment to delivering exceptional quality Proficiency in culinary arts, food production, and kitchen management Leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Knowledge of Italian language is an advantage Exceptional knowledge of Italian and Mediterranean cuisine and its associated ingredients is a must Willing and be able to relocate to Tuscany, Italy.
