Job Description New York City Health + Hospitals | Queens, a teaching affiliate of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, is one of 11 acute care municipal hospitals in New York City and is a part of the largest public hospital system in the United States. We serve an ethnically diverse patient population in a culturally rich neighborhood of Queens, New York. We are seeking highly motivated candidates for full-time Physician Assistant positions in the Department of Emergency Medicine. Prior experience in Emergency Medicine is a plus, but accepting new graduates. Candidates will be employees of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. This is an excellent opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team working with a diverse patient population. Physician Assistants perform direct clinical functions in all areas of the Emergency Department, including Triage, the Adult ED, Fast Track, Pediatric Emergency Department, and the ED Observation Unit. General tasks and responsibilities will include: • Performing history and physical examinations on ED patients, • Formulate a diagnostic and treatment plan, • Write orders for diagnostic tests, medications, consultations and clinic referrals, • Review, interpret and document the results of the diagnostic tests ordered, • Perform procedures, such as laceration repair, abscess incision & drainage, splinting of orthopedic injuries, endotracheal intubation, reduction of dislocations, • Implementing treatment protocols and undertaking clinical decision making, under the supervision of an Emergency Medicine attending, • Complete and document participation in continuing medical education required of Physician Assistants, • Write prescriptions in accordance with hospital guidelines, • Counsel patients when appropriate on health education issues and disease prevention The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides equal employment opportunity to all its employees and applicants for employment without unlawful discrimination on the basis of their actual or perceived race, creed, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender, gender expression, gender identity, age, disability, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, veteran, immigration, citizenship, or other protected status.
