We are seeking a seasoned educator who wants to remain hands-on in the classroom, but who relishes the challenge of running a business. What You’ll Do: * Teach Art and / or Digital Design Classes: Teach weekly art and / or digital art classes and summer camps for a variety of ages and media * Ensure Student Success: Ensure student success in the studio and lab by actively engaging with students and teachers to observe, document and communicate their progress and opportunities for growth * Provide Hospitality Service & Communication: Conduct proactive check-ins with parents, students and families, support makeup scheduling, discuss student progress and opportunities for growth, upsells to additional classes / camps. * Implement One River Methodology Curriculum: Ensure teachers have lesson plans/resources on time and implement the One River Method through each class effectively and contribute to lesson plan development regularly * Develop Teaching Staff: Recruit, lead and manage part time educators and teaching artists staff to ensure exceptional educational experiences at the school * Develop Students: Teach weekly classes in drawing and painting ensuring students reach their full potential as artists * Member and Community Partner outreach: Foster relationships with members and outside groups ensuring that the art community is thriving and growing inside and outside the school. Including running gallery exhibitions * Run a best-in-class studio: Order and Re-stock art supplies, Clean and organize studio spaces and student artwork and oversee digital lab maintenance * Student Exhibitions: Collect, Curate and Install school & community exhibitions; plan and prompt the opening receptions for Student Shows and support parties and special events. Requirements: * BA/BS in Visual Art, Art Education or Design (Master’s a plus) * 5+ years experience teaching visual arts for K–12 and/or adults. Digital art skills are a plus. * Art Program and teacher management experience. * Track record of high-quality instruction, classroom management, and student progress. * Clear communicator, organized, and energized by a busy studio environment * Passion for art history, contemporary art and a “students-first” mindset Compensation, Schedule and Benefits: * Competitive salaries plus generous quarterly bonuses based on school performance. Job Summary The Academy Charter School Art Teacher understands and promotes the school’s mission, vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The Art Teacher will be responsible for providing a classroom/instructional program that supports the individual needs of all children in accordance with the school’s mission and values established by the school. Responsibilities and Duties • Use the state standards and curriculum to create a rigorous and objective-driven arts program, • Use technology tools for instruction, planning, and communication and ensure student engagement, • Eagerly learn new uses and applications of technology tools, • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create interdisciplinary units that teach grade level content knowledge and skills through the arts, • Promote students self-expression and exploration while deepening their knowledge and understanding of art, design and art history, • Incorporate art history in ways that are engaging and meaningful to students and objectives, • Measure student achievement and progress towards learning objectives using the school’s formative and summative assessment tools, • Provide ongoing and timely feedback to students on their progress towards meeting expectations and achieving goal, • Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families, colleagues and administrators, • Establish, involve, and assist students in the development, maintenance, and evaluation of portfolios Pay Transparency: The salary range for this role is $62,500 - $77,000. Base pay offered may vary within the posted range based on several factors, including but not limited to education, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Requirements: Qualifications and Skills • Minimum of 2 years of urban teaching experience required with a record of high student achievement, • Knowledge of art and design concepts, a variety of media and materials, and broad range of art history, • Possess broad range of knowledge in a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, collage, design, and construction, • Bachelors Degree required, • New York State Art Teacher Certification required
