Job Description GUMEDIA NUTRITIONAL SCIENCES SCHOOL® Nourishing the mind, heart, and body of our students® Lead Teacher • Infant, • Toddler, • Preschool, • Pre-Kindergarten, • Kindergarten EDUCATION: Associate’s bachelor’s degree in early childhood development or early childhood education or Teaching Certification from Department of Education in Preschool through Third Grade (P-3) CDA (Child Development Associate) credential is a plus. A minimum of two years of teaching experience, with demonstrated interest in working with students from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES AS LEAD TEACHER: Establish a professional level of rapport with each family in order to provide quality care and friendly service Approach parents daily and speak with them about their child(ren) in a respectful manner. Ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, and physical needs as well as their educational needs Create and maintain an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times Utilize the best and most developmentally appropriate child care practices and methods at all times Engage children in play and in activities that stimulate their development Assist children with activities of daily life (restroom use / diaper / pull up changing, hand washing, gentle grooming) Supervise teacher aides in the classroom and ensure they are following all program policy and customer service expectations Train any teacher aides in the classroom and direct them as to what duties need to be carried out throughout the day Be able to record and observe child educational and developmental milestones and to communicate findings to parents Plan daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for young children and accommodate different learning styles Conduct child assessments and facilitate parent-teacher conferences Attend and engage in occasional parent participation events and other events that may be at night and/or on weekends Prepare daily/weekly lesson plans according to policy Be responsible for daily sheets and the daily activities pertaining to eating, sleeping, and potty usage Maintain a professional self-image and project the values of the organization at all times Provide feedback and suggestions on how to maintain staff and family morale REQUIREMENTS: Be at least 21 years of age Submit to various background checks including those completed through the Department of Human Services and/or State Police Department Be CPR and First Aid certified Complete a Tuberculosis test and physical and provide a physician’s documentation of both. A track record of success in the classroom. A collaborative attitude towards teaching and learning. Must have a current teacher license. Assists with coordination of instructional support for new teachers. Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of children alone in a classroom. Possess time management, writing skills, and people skills Have a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences Have an awareness of the unique needs, behaviors, and habits of young children and have appropriate expectations of their abilities Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 50 lbs Be available for full time employment (be available to work during our hours of operation: 7:30 AM - 6:30 PM) Proficiency in another language is a PLUS Be able to tackle other responsibilities as needed for the benefit of the children in our care.
