Grossing technician: Histotechnicians/Grossing technicians are an essential part of the team of laboratory health care professionals. They perform testing and prepare body fluids and tissues that are critical to the diagnostic process in determining health and disease. OUR EXPECTATIONS OF YOU • Daily: set up and prepares the autoclaves for use, ensuring that the core sterilizer and tabletop units are functioning properly and achieving proper run specifications, • Inspect O.R. suite daily to ensure that it meets ASC standards for cleanliness, • Initial morning scrub shall be for 3 to 5 minutes; routine scrub is required between cases, • Gowning and gloving shall be in accordance with acceptable sterile technique, • Set up phaco and retina equipment and instruments while patient is being positioned and prepped, • Maintains the instrument table, mayo stands, and instruments in proper order and condition during the case, • Assist with stocking of supplies, cleaning of equipment, and room “turn over” in a timely fashion and notify appropriate parties of anything that needs to be addressed, • Check IOL with Circulating Registered Nurse for proper style, model, and power, • Assist the Circulating R.N. in “closing” the O.R.
