Job Description Full-Time | Hybrid — Miami, FL or Long Island, NY | Salary + Bonus Potential About Elliman Capital: Elliman Capital is the integrated lending arm of Douglas Elliman, one of the nation's largest and most recognized luxury real estate brokerages. Combining modern mortgage technology, sophisticated credit expertise, and exceptional service, we support residential transactions across some of the country's most active and desirable real estate markets. As we continue our rapid national expansion, we are seeking a Senior Underwriting Operations Manager to lead, develop, and elevate our operations department. This is a true player-coach leadership role, ideal for a seasoned operations professional who combines deep underwriting expertise with a genuine passion for the mortgage business and a hands-on approach to leadership. You'll work directly alongside executive leadership to solve problems in real time, manage and mentor the operations team, and shape how our department runs as we scale into new markets. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of an operations platform at a pivotal stage of growth and put your fingerprints on it for years to come. This is a hybrid role based in either South Florida or Long Island, New York, combining in-office collaboration with remote flexibility once a week. Compensation packages are designed to reward both experience and performance, and in addition to base salary, this role includes the potential for a performance-based bonus tied to departmental goals and outcomes. Benefits include medical coverage, 401(k), paid time off, and paid company holidays. Why Operations Leaders Choose Elliman Capital: • Direct partnership with executive leadership and decision-makers, • True ownership of the operations function, • Deep exposure across the full product spectrum: Conventional, FHA, VA, Jumbo, Non-QM, DSCR, bank statement, and foreign national programs, • The opportunity to design, refine, and implement processes rather than inherit them, • Modern technology stack including Encompass, nCino, and Optimal Blue, • Significant advancement opportunities as Elliman Capital continues its national expansion, • A company that promotes from within and rewards performance What Makes This Role Different: Build a Department, Not Just a Pipeline: Elliman Capital is experiencing significant national growth, creating a rare opportunity for an ambitious operations leader who wants more than a traditional management role. As we expand into new markets and grow our lending platform, this role will have a direct hand in shaping operational structure, workflow design, training programs, quality standards, and team development. You won't be maintaining someone else's system — you'll be elevating and building ours. We believe in recognizing talent, rewarding sound judgment, and promoting from within whenever possible. A Hands-On Leadership Environment: We believe strong operations leadership is built on presence, communication, and accountability. This is not a manage-from-a-distance role. Our ideal candidate leads by doing — stepping into files when needed, working shoulder-to-shoulder with the team, and staying close to the details while keeping sight of the bigger picture. This means you'll have: • Direct access to leadership and executive decision-makers, • Close collaboration with underwriting, processing, closing, pricing, and production teams, • The ability to make a meaningful impact on lending decisions and outcomes, • Real authority over process improvement and operational development, • Support from a leadership team that values quality, accountability, and mutual respect Technology That Supports Better Operations: Our integrated technology platform is designed to provide operations leadership with the visibility and information needed to manage pipelines efficiently and make sound decisions. This includes: • Encompass LOS, • nCino borrower and workflow management, • Optimal Blue pricing engine, • Integrated document collection and condition management tools, • Streamlined communication between underwriting, operations, and production, • Technology designed to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality Hybrid Work Environment: Elliman Capital offers a hybrid work arrangement for this role, based in South Florida or Long Island, New York. Regardless of where you're working on a given day, we maintain high standards for communication, responsiveness, teamwork, and execution. You will work within: • A professional environment built on accountability and trust, • Defined productivity and turnaround expectations, • Direct access to leadership and operational support, • A culture that prioritizes professionalism, teamwork, and results, • Flexibility designed to support both individual success and organizational growth Responsibilities: • Lead day-to-day underwriting and operations workflow across the full loan lifecycle, from setup and disclosure through underwriting, closing, and post-closing, • Serve as the in-house underwriting authority across all residential loan types, including Conventional, FHA, VA, Jumbo, Non-QM, DSCR, bank statement, and foreign national programs, • Manage, train, and develop the operations team, setting clear standards for quality, turn times, and accountability, • Partner directly with executive leadership to identify bottlenecks, design solutions, and implement process improvements, • Develop, refine, and document operational procedures, pipelines, and service level expectations as the company scales, • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, pricing, closing, secondary, and compliance teams, • Step into files personally when needed — reviewing, problem-solving, and keeping the pipeline moving, • Monitor pipeline health, turn times, and quality metrics, and report to leadership, • Support hiring, onboarding, and training as the operations team grows, • Ensure loans meet investor guidelines, internal credit standards, and regulatory requirements, • Stay current on investor guidelines, overlays, and regulatory changes Requirements: • 7+ years of residential mortgage operations experience, with deep hands-on underwriting expertise, • Demonstrated experience underwriting across agency and non-agency products, including Non-QM, DSCR, and bank statement programs (DE/SAR certification a strong plus), • Prior experience managing, training, and developing operations or underwriting teams, • Working knowledge of the full mortgage lifecycle across all departments, including origination, processing, closing, funding, post-closing, secondary, and compliance, • Encompass experience required; nCino and Optimal Blue experience a plus, • Solid understanding of federal and state mortgage regulations, including TILA, RESPA, TRID, and Fair Lending requirements, • Exceptionally organized and self-directed, with the ability to identify what needs to be done and execute without waiting to be asked, • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Professional demeanor aligned with a high-touch client and referral partner experience, • A genuine passion for the mortgage business and a leadership style built on doing, not delegating If you are an experienced operations leader seeking a growth-oriented environment where your expertise, judgment, and initiative are valued — and where you can build something meaningful — we encourage you to apply today.
