Background checks are reviewed in context—including factors such as time passed, relevance to the role, and demonstrated growth., • Provide direct supervision, scheduling, and daily direction to the sanitation team, backing up and supporting the Sanitation Manager, • Ensure all sanitation procedures are executed in compliance with GMPs, HACCP plans, and company policies, • Verify completion and effectiveness of sanitation activities through inspections, ATP testing (if applicable), and documentation review, • Partner with Quality Assurance and Production teams to support startup readiness and minimize downtime, • Ensure enforcement of Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS), making recommendations for updates as appropriate, • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (USDA, FDA, OSHA) and support internal and external audits, • Coach, train, and develop employees, address performance issues in alignment with company policies, • Monitor chemical usage, inventory, and proper handling to ensure safety and cost control, • Identify continuous improvement opportunities related to sanitation processes, efficiency, and food safety, • Assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions for sanitation-related deviations or non-conformances, • High school diploma or GED required, post-secondary education in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred, • Minimum 3 years of sanitation experience in a food manufacturing environment, • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred, • Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, SSOPs, and food safety standards, • Experience in a regulated environment (USDA/FDA) preferred, • Redzone or other control software experience preferred, • Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities, with the ability to motivate and guide team performance, • Strong sense of accountability and ownership, with a commitment to achieving results and maintaining standards, • High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in sanitation processes and documentation, • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally across departments Essential Physical Requirements (This role requires the following physical activities) Continuous (67–100% of the time): • Standing, • Walking, • Reaching, • Grasping, • Talking, • Hearing, • Seeing (equipment, production areas, sanitation standards, documentation), • Fine motor coordination (handling tools, sanitation equipment, documentation), • Repetitive hand motions (cleaning, scrubbing, equipment handling), • Bending at the waist, • Lifting (up to 50 lbs), • Carrying (equipment, chemicals, tools), • Pushing (sanitation equipment, carts), • Pulling (hoses, equipment), • Stooping, • Crouching, • Kneeling This position is located in a production/processing environment, which may involve: • Cold temperatures ranging from 45°ree;F with occasional exposure to freezer environments as low as -10°ree;F, • Exposure to manufacturing equipment and machinery, • Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety protocols, • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and sanitation agents, with responsibility for handling, use, and storage in strict accordance with established safety guidelines and protocols, • On-site, in-office role to support collaboration and leadership presence DISCLAIMER: The above information on this job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by the employee within this classification.
