Job Description Prototype & Sample Supervisor Location: Somerset, NJ Position Summary: This position is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely execution of all prototype, small production, and R&D orders. Will direct shift leads, prototype operators within the group, and secures coordination with production and research engineers as necessary. This position will also ensure that any and all operational parameters and key production attributes are documented and the results summarized for distribution to the Chief Innovation Officer, Product Development Manager, Manufacturing Director, Quality Manager and Client Engineering Manager. Essential Responsibilities: • Directs shift leads as well as team operators in the manufacture of prototypes, small production, and R&D orders., • Ensure that all production processes such as lamination, CNC operations, engraving, stamping, and chip embedding are completed by prototype operators as specified and that all equipment parameters, recipes, and key attributes are documented., • Coordinate operations between shifts to assure consistent quality and documentation, including directing leads on both shifts., • Assure that troubleshooting documentation is completed and communicated to relevant parties., • Commit to and meet delivery dates for prototype orders and confirm that scheduling database is maintained., • Immediate documentation and notification to the Product Development Manager on processing or quality issues and how they were resolved., • Ensure all employees are:, • Using the proper Personal Protection Equipment defined for use in their jobs, • Trained to perform their duties in a safe, productive and accurate manner, • Practicing safe working habits, • Reporting any and all accidents immediately, • Ensure department adherence to the Company's attendance, break, safety and other policies., • Conduct employee performance evaluations for team., • Oversee other operations within the responsibility of the Prototype Team., • Assist production when prototype orders are not present., • Timely Corrective Action response and resolution to relevant project situations., • Engage and support companywide Safety and Cleanliness programs., • Will be required to perform other job functions, as assigned. Required Skills and Competencies: • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment involving prototype products, • High School Diploma or GED is required, • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, • Strong attention to detail and ability to self-check own work, • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills, • Task oriented excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize work load, • Enthusiastic attitude, cooperative team player, adaptable to new or changing circumstances, professional demeanor, sensitive to client needs, self-motivated, creative and innovative, • Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions, • Conceptual Thinking - Ability to think in terms of abstract ideas, • High level of computer literacy including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Outlook Physical qualifications and work environment: • Must be able to lift 20 lbs;, • Must be able to sustain office work for 8+ hours per day including the following:, • Sitting in an office chair, • Typing, • Reaching for the telephone, • Standing at office equipment, • Hearing for phone use, • Sight for computer use, • Must be able to sustain factory work as needed including the following:, • Standing at machinery, • Reaching and pulling to operate machinery, • Sight for machinery operation, • Walking through shop, • Office environment is of moderate noise level., • Shop noise levels are such that protective ear-coverings are recommended.
