Insurance Coverage Attorney | Hybrid – Garden City, NY | $150,000–$210,000 I'm working with an established New York law firm that's looking to add an attorney to its growing Insurance Coverage practice in Garden City. It's a good opportunity for someone who enjoys complex insurance work, wants more responsibility over their cases and is looking for a firm where there's room to develop without getting lost in a huge team. The Firm & Opportunity The firm has a well-established insurance practice, representing insurer clients in a range of coverage disputes and litigation matters. The team is continuing to grow and is looking for an attorney who can come in, work closely with the partners and take on a good level of responsibility from the outset. There's a mix of coverage advice, litigation and direct client contact, so you won't be limited to one particular aspect of the work. One thing worth mentioning is that you don't necessarily need to come from a pure insurance coverage background. The firm is also interested in attorneys with insurance defense or insurance litigation experience who would like to move further into coverage work. If you've got a solid litigation background and a good understanding of insurance matters, it's certainly worth a conversation. What You'll Be Doing The role will involve a mixture of insurance coverage advice and litigation, including: • Advising insurers on coverage issues and policy interpretation, • Handling coverage disputes from the early stages through to resolution, • Drafting motions, pleadings, briefs and coverage opinions, • Representing clients in state and federal courts, • Working with partners on litigation strategy and more complex matters, • Dealing directly with insurer clients and developing those relationships over time You'll have support from experienced partners, but the firm also wants someone who's comfortable taking ownership of their work rather than needing to be supervised at every stage. What They're Looking For The firm is ideally looking for an attorney with around 2–8 years of experience in insurance coverage, insurance defense, insurance litigation or a related practice area. You'll need to be admitted to the New York Bar and have strong legal research, writing and litigation skills. Previous coverage experience would obviously be useful, but it isn't an absolute requirement. They're happy to consider attorneys coming from the defense side who have an interest in developing their coverage experience. What's on Offer? • Salary: $150,000–$210,000, depending on experience, • Location: Garden City, NY, • Working arrangement: Hybrid, • An established insurance practice that's continuing to expand, • Direct access to partners and plenty of hands-on experience, • A varied caseload covering both advisory and contentious matters, • Opportunities to take on more responsibility and progress as the team grows It's a particularly interesting option if you're currently at a larger firm and would prefer a slightly more personal working environment, or if you're in insurance defense and have been considering a move into coverage. Interested in Hearing More? If the role sounds of interest, feel free to send over your resume and I'll be happy to share more about the firm, the team and the type of work they're handling. All conversations will be treated confidentially. Equally, if you're not actively looking but would be interested in hearing what's out there, I'm always happy to have an informal conversation. I work with law firms across New York and the wider East Coast, so even if this particular opportunity isn't quite right, there may be others worth discussing. Prefer a quick call? You can reach me directly on 332 777 6411. I appreciate it's not always easy to find time for a job search when you're juggling cases, deadlines and billable hours.
