The ideal candidate will have some courtroom experience and strong legal research and writing skills. Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000 Responsibilities: • Communicate with senior associates, paralegals, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently, • Attend court hearings or other legal proceedings, perform legal research, and work with senior associate attorneys to provide legal advice, • Keep files organized to make sure the most recent updates are accessible to other attorneys, paralegals, and staff, • Review client issues on legal matters, analyze available options, and diligently work to determine the best course of action, • Draft documents such as correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, settlement agreements, and contracts to be used proceedings and contract negotiations, • Represent clients in consumer protection matters, including FDCPA, FCRA, TILA, and DTPA cases., • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses., • Appear in court for hearings, trials, and mediations., • Provide client-focused legal advice and maintain strong communication., • Collaborate with senior attorneys and staff to deliver effective case strategies., • Continue learning and growing in practice areas connected to consumer law, debt resolution, and financial justice. Job Description We specialize in representing Defendants across the state of Texas in state court for unpaid debts. We manage a high volume of cases, offering a fast-paced environment that is both rewarding and engaging. Position Overview: As a Legal Assistant within our firm, your role is pivotal in supporting our attorneys and paralegals to efficiently manage our extensive caseload. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the smooth operation of our cases. Key Responsibilities: • Case Monitoring: Keep a close eye on docket reports to identify upcoming hearings and statuses of cases., • Document Preparation and Handling: Utilize templates to generate essential documents and emails, ensuring timely communication. Procure necessary documents such as orders, notices, and other legal materials from clients, opposing counsel, and courts., • Communications with Courts, Clients and Opposing Counsels: Act as a point of contact with courts, communication with clients about their cases, negotiate and finalize settlements between our client and the Plaintiff., • E-filing/Serving: Handle the filing and serving of legal documents, adhering to strict deadlines and procedures., • Data Management: Accurately enter data, information and documents into our client and case management systems., • Supportive Tasks: Assist attorneys and paralegals with miscellaneous tasks and projects as needed. Qualifications: • At least 1-year previous experience in the legal field;, • Exceptional organizational skills and a keen eye for detail;, • Basic understanding of state court pleadings, terminology and procedures;, • Competency in managing and tracking deadlines;, • Bi-lingual: English/Spanish is preferred but not required What We Offer: • Weekly pay. The salary range for this position will be dependent on experience but is anticipated to be in the range of $33,500 - $38,000 annual range., • Benefits: 401k plan, health insurance, paid time off after 90 day probation period. Hours: This is a full-time position. Monday – Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Friday’s 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
