Job DescriptionJob Title: Machine Operator Job Description The Machine Operator supports the safe and efficient operation of slitting machines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role works closely with a Lead Machine Operator to set up, run, and monitor machines according to work orders and quality standards. The position is hands-on and mechanically focused, requiring strong attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions accurately, and a commitment to safety and teamwork. Responsibilities • Assist the Lead Machine Operator with the safe and efficient operation of slitting machines in accordance with established training standards and procedures., • Follow work order instructions carefully and translate product specifications into correct machine settings and operating procedures., • Set up, adjust, and monitor slitting machines during production to maintain consistent quality and output., • Inspect finished goods to ensure they meet work order requirements, dimensional specifications, and quality standards., • Identify non-conforming materials or products and promptly notify the appropriate supervisor or department manager., • Use measurement tools and tape measures to verify product dimensions and apply data to machine settings with supervisory support as needed., • Complete assigned tasks within work order time estimates and daily production schedules to help meet production goals., • Handle production materials, packaging, and general labor tasks related to machine operation and product flow., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area around machines and production equipment., • Follow all safety procedures, use required personal protective equipment (PPE), and participate in safety training., • Communicate effectively with Lead Machine Operators, production team members, and supervisors to coordinate workflow and resolve issues., • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the production team and overall manufacturing operations.Essential Skills, • 1 year of factory or manufacturing experience preferred, especially in production, machine operation, or general production environments., • Experience with machine operating tasks such as setup, monitoring, and basic adjustments in a manufacturing setting., • Ability to use and understand measurement tools, including tape measures and handheld measuring tools, and apply data to machine settings with supervisory support., • Ability to read and interpret work orders and translate specifications into practical machine settings and procedures., • Strong command of English, both written and spoken, to understand instructions, safety procedures, and production documentation., • Basic math skills to perform measurements, calculations, and checks related to product dimensions and machine settings., • Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs as needed in a production environment., • Ability to stand for long periods and remain active throughout the shift., • Ability to walk, sit, bend, and talk on the phone as needed to perform daily tasks and communicate with team members., • Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods when required for documentation or communication tasks., • Strong attention to detail and quality when inspecting materials and finished goods., • Reliability and consistency in following safety procedures and production guidelines.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous experience working with slitting machines or similar tape-slitting or converting equipment is a plus., • Background in general labor, packaging, or warehouse environments is beneficial., • Comfort working with industrial equipment and production materials in a fast-moving environment., • Willingness to learn new processes, machinery, and measurement techniques through on-the-job training., • Positive, team-oriented attitude with a focus on collaboration and communication., • Proactive mindset with an interest in continuous improvement and process efficiency., • Ability to manage time effectively and stay organized in a structured shift environment.Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a first-shift position, typically working from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in a fast-moving manufacturing environment focused on safety, teamwork, and precision. You will work around slitting machines, tape-slitting equipment, measuring tools, production materials, and warehouse equipment in an industrial but clean and organized facility designed for efficiency. The role is highly active and hands-on, with most of the day spent standing at machines, inspecting materials, adjusting settings, and completing production tasks. Safety procedures are taken seriously, PPE is provided and required, and machines and work areas are maintained to high standards. Employees receive thorough training before operating equipment and are supported with clear instructions so they are never left guessing. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Brunswick, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
