Job Summary Summary: Direct the activities of associates during a specific shift and oversee that assigned job expectations are completed while policy and procedure is maintained. Schneps Media Long Island seeks an Assistant Managing Editor for Special Sections/Entertainment for its chain of local news outlets covering Nassau County. The Assistant Managing Editor for Special Sections/Entertainment will work closely with our Editor-in-Chief, Digital Editor, Reporters and Graphic Artists. The role will involve writing stories in our WordPress CMS to expedite the online publishing of stories and their placement in our pagination system. The editor will help make sure deadlines are met and workflow moves from editing to publishing and layout efficiently. The qualified candidate is preferably a current Long Island resident, has at least 3 years of experience working in a newsroom, has strong digital skills related to WordPress, optimizing stories and SEO best practices, and is organized and works well with a team.
