Job DescriptionSalary: $45k-$55k Legal Assistant/ Paralegal Our legal team is committed to providing each client with quality counsel, innovative solutions, and personalized service. Founded in 2000, the firm offers the legal expertise of its 115+ attorneys, who have accumulated experience and problem-solving skills over decades of practice. We are a vibrant, busy, and growing full-service law firm looking to increase to its talented ranks of professional staff by adding a Legal Assistant with a demonstrated interest and experience of 1-3 years in a legal administrative capacity. Key Responsibilities: • Client Intake & Communication, • Answer phones, take accurate messages, and ensure theyre routed with appropriate urgency and followup to resolution, • Greet clients and coordinate communications in a professional, clientfocused manner, • Calendar & Docket Management, • Maintain detailed calendar for guardianship practice., • Schedule and coordinate internal and external meetings, court appearances, and client appointments, • Document Preparation & Filing, • Service of legal documents; prepare simple pleadings and assemble exhibits for court filings, • Create, edit, format, and proofread letters, memos, and other documents in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, • Efile with NYSCEF and other portals; coordinate service of process via service companies, • File documents with state and administrative agencies (electronic and paper), ensuring compliance with deadlines, • Administrative Support, • Arrange conference calls and meetings; manage travel and expense reports, • Create and maintain paper and electronic files; handle photocopying, scanning, and printing requests, • Open new client matters, run conflict checks, and submit electronic approvals, • Special Projects & Learning, • Assist with basic legal research and case summaries in guardianship and elderlaw matters, • Participate in training sessions and take on ad hoc projects to develop paralegal skills Knowledge, Skills & Attributes • 1-3 years of experience providing administrative support in a legal environment (paralegal internships or coursework considered), • Experience with e-filing documents with NYSCEF strongly preferred, • Familiarity with elder law or guardianship matters is a plus, • Bachelors degree or paralegal certificate preferred, but not required, • Proactive, anticipatory thinker with excellent clientservice and problemsolving skills, • Strong interpersonal abilities; works cooperatively with all levels of staff, • Solid computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, • Ability to think clearly and work well under pressure in a fastpaced environment Benefits • Medical, Dental, 401(k), PTO, and more, • Handson mentorship from experienced guardianship and elderlaw attorneys, • Support for professional development and paralegal certification, • A collaborative, growthoriented culture in our Lake Success office
