Job Description Job Title: HVAC/R Service Technician Job Description This role focuses on servicing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial environments. You will troubleshoot and repair equipment such as package units, rooftop units, split systems, chillers, condensers, ice machines, and refrigeration systems, while performing regular preventative maintenance to keep systems operating safely and efficiently. Responsibilities • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues in HVAC and refrigeration systems, including package units, rooftop units, split systems, chillers, condensers, ice machines, and refrigeration equipment., • Perform repairs on HVAC and refrigeration systems to restore proper operation and minimize downtime for customers., • Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment life., • Service and maintain HVAC refrigeration systems in a variety of commercial settings such as schools, retail locations, offices, and high-rise buildings., • Complete 3–5 field service calls per day within the assigned territory, managing time and tasks effectively., • Use appropriate tools, gauges, and testing equipment to inspect, service, and repair HVAC/R systems safely and accurately., • Document work performed, including diagnostics, repairs, and parts used, in a clear and organized manner., • Identify and communicate additional service needs or potential issues to the appropriate contacts to help prevent future breakdowns., • Adhere to safety standards and practices on every job site, following OSHA and industry guidelines. Essential Skills • Strong hands-on experience with HVAC refrigeration systems, including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance., • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing package units, rooftop units, and split systems., • Experience working with chillers and condensers in commercial environments., • Ability to perform preventative maintenance on a variety of HVAC and refrigeration equipment., • Field service experience, including managing multiple service calls per day., • Solid troubleshooting skills for HVAC units and refrigeration systems., • EPA 608 Universal certification., • Ability to read and interpret equipment specifications, manuals, and service documentation., • Valid OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training preferred, with strong awareness of job site safety practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Hot food equipment experience is a significant plus., • F60 and G60 certifications are a major plus., • Ownership of a personal set of HVAC/R tools is a major plus., • Experience servicing refrigeration equipment and refrigeration systems in commercial settings., • Comfort working on a variety of sites, including schools, retail spaces, offices, and high-rise buildings., • Ability to work independently in the field and communicate effectively with dispatch and customers., • Strong organizational skills to handle documentation and scheduling of multiple daily service calls. You will work in commercial environments, including schools, retail locations, offices, and high-rise buildings, often on rooftop units and other building systems. The position involves regular travel between job sites, exposure to indoor mechanical rooms and outdoor rooftop conditions, and hands-on work with HVAC and refrigeration equipment using standard industry tools and testing devices. Appropriate field attire suitable for commercial job sites and varying weather conditions is expected. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Westbury, NY.
