Job DescriptionJob Title: Electrical Test Technician Job Description The Electrical Test Technician supports high-efficiency HVAC test operations by performing technical tasks that contribute to the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of engineering projects. This role focuses on operating, inspecting, and maintaining chillers and test setups, calibrating laboratory equipment, and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems. The technician ensures safe and reliable lab operations while driving quality, efficiency, and transparency in testing activities. Responsibilities • Perform basic to moderately complex technical tasks that support the planning and execution of engineering projects related to HVAC and chiller testing., • Operate, inspect, and maintain chillers, test setups, and associated equipment to ensure reliable and efficient test operations., • Work safely with electrical equipment, including 460-3-60 machinery, in conjunction with HVAC operation and refrigerant handling in compliance with EPA certification requirements., • Calibrate laboratory equipment to accurately measure pressure, temperature, flow, and electrical parameters, ensuring data integrity and repeatability., • Select, connect, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems on equipment manufactured at the facility., • Perform loop calibration and configure valves for single and double loop configurations to optimize system performance., • Operate, troubleshoot, and calibrate power management systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), boilers, and valve configurations., • Coach and support team members by sharing technical knowledge, best practices, and measurement techniques., • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate test results, issues, and findings to relevant stakeholders to drive timely resolution., • Champion lab safety by promoting a safe workspace, supporting 5S practices, and upholding environmental health and safety (EHS) policies., • Support lab uptime by promptly reporting instrument failures and contributing to enhanced preventive maintenance activities., • Collect and report test status and results, including writing clear and accurate test reports and documentation., • Apply and teach measurement techniques and systems troubleshooting methods to improve testing quality and consistency., • Proactively identify and resolve testing hurdles by consulting with development and other process partners., • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing efforts, to reduce waste and improve efficiency in testing and manufacturing processes., • Follow lockout/tagout and other safety procedures when working with medium voltage operations and energized equipment., • Read and interpret complex drawings, schematics, and blueprints to support setup, troubleshooting, and verification of systems., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S and company standards.Essential Skills, • High School Diploma or GED., • 5+ years of experience in HVAC or chiller operations, station and chiller work, and/or 5+ years of experience in a laboratory environment working with mechanical and electrical machinery., • 5+ years of experience using hand and pneumatic tools, advanced shop mathematics, complex measuring equipment, precision measuring instruments, and related tools., • Ability to work safely with electrical equipment, including 460-3-60 machinery, in HVAC applications., • Experience with HVAC operation and refrigerant handling in alignment with EPA certification requirements., • Proficiency in calibrating laboratory equipment to measure pressure, temperature, flow, and electrical values., • Demonstrated ability to select, connect, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems., • Experience in loop calibration and configuring valves for single and double loop configurations., • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and calibrate power management systems, VFDs, boilers, and valve configurations., • Strong troubleshooting skills for systems and equipment, including the ability to diagnose and resolve basic to moderately complex technical issues., • Ability to apply and teach measurement techniques and write clear, structured test reports., • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing or laboratory environment., • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practical experience in reducing waste and improving efficiency., • Understanding and adherence to lockout/tagout procedures and safe work practices, especially in medium voltage operations., • Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, schematics, and blueprints., • Commitment to lab safety, 5S practices, and environmental health and safety policies., • Good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination for precise handling of tools and equipment., • Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing portable ladders.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Associate of Science (AS) or Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in a related technical field, Technical or Business School Certificate, or completion of a Skilled Trades Apprenticeship., • Proven ability to independently lead and run chiller operations, including setting up tests, monitoring performance, and reporting results., • Expertise in loop tuning and driving test cycle and loop efficiency improvements., • Technical expertise in HVAC design and components, with the ability to operate and optimize chiller systems., • Experience with continuous improvement projects and documented examples of improving manufacturing or testing processes., • Demonstrated experience implementing lean manufacturing practices to reduce waste and enhance efficiency., • Experience with medium voltage operations, including arc flash awareness and compliance with safety protocols., • Strong communication skills to coach team members and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams., • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.Why Work Here? Good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination are essential for handling tools, instrumentation, and complex setups. Personal protective equipment is required and must be used in accordance with safety policies, including lockout/tagout and other electrical safety procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mesa, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
