Job DescriptionJob Title: Facility Maintenance Technician Job Description This contract-to-hire Facility Maintenance Technician role focuses on keeping a medium-to-large manufacturing facility and office areas operating safely and efficiently. You will perform a wide range of facility repairs and preventive maintenance, support mechanical and electrical work on production equipment, and assist with upkeep of forklifts, scissor lifts, CNC machines, and manual machines as needed. Responsibilities • Perform day-to-day facility maintenance to ensure the building, offices, and production areas remain safe, functional, and in good working order., • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues, including lighting and related facility electrical systems., • Diagnose and repair plumbing issues throughout the facility., • Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on facility systems and equipment., • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems to maintain proper operation., • Support maintenance and repair work on forklifts, scissor lifts, and other material handling equipment., • Assist with cleaning and basic maintenance of CNC and manual machines, and support repairs as needed., • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks on facility systems and equipment to minimize downtime., • Assemble furniture and shelving when required to support office and facility needs., • Perform sheetrock (drywall) repairs and painting to maintain a clean, professional environment., • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively for a variety of maintenance and repair tasks., • Interpret and work from blueprints and basic technical documentation when performing repairs or installations., • Operate and work from mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs) and other equipment when needed for maintenance tasks., • Think creatively to solve maintenance problems and find practical solutions to unexpected issues., • Take on tasks outside your core expertise when needed to support overall facility operations., • Collaborate with production and other departments to minimize disruption while completing maintenance work., • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements., • Proven facilities maintenance experience in a commercial or industrial environment (facilities maintenance experience is a must)., • Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair skills, including work on facility lighting and related systems., • Hands-on plumbing troubleshooting and repair experience., • Mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills for facility systems and equipment., • Experience with HVAC troubleshooting and repair., • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on facility and industrial equipment., • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with a wide range of tools and equipment., • Comfort working on and around forklifts, scissor lifts, and other industrial equipment., • Ability to read and work from blueprints or basic technical drawings., • Proficiency using hand and power tools safely and effectively., • Ability to think outside the box and apply practical problem-solving skills., • Willingness to work on tasks outside your primary expertise when needed., • Capability to perform drywall (sheetrock) repairs and painting., • Ability to assemble furniture and shelving accurately and safely., • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial building maintenance environment., • Experience as a commercial building maintenance technician or facility maintenance technician., • Industrial maintenance or building maintenance within a manufacturing setting., • Familiarity with maintenance and repair of CNC and manual machines., • Experience operating or working from mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs)., • Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility., • Contract-to-hire mindset with interest in long-term employment and growth., • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with production and office staff. Work Environment You will work in a medium-to-large manufacturing facility that fabricates overhead cranes from scratch and employs approximately 75 people in the shop. The environment is industrial and non-climate controlled, so temperatures will vary with the seasons. The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, generally from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with limited overtime or weekend work. You will regularly use hand and power tools, work around industrial machinery such as forklifts, scissor lifts, CNC machines, and manual machines, and perform tasks throughout both the shop and office areas. Proper personal protective equipment is required at all times, including steel-toe footwear, and you will follow established safety procedures while working in and around active production areas. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
