Job DescriptionJob Title: Facilities Technician Job Description The Facilities Technician performs a wide range of preventative maintenance and repair tasks to keep building systems, equipment, and grounds in excellent working condition. This role supports a high-quality, customer-focused environment by ensuring facilities remain safe, functional, and well maintained at all times. Responsibilities • Perform routine preventative maintenance on building systems, equipment, and facilities in assigned areas., • Assist with repair and upkeep of interior and exterior building components, including common areas and building grounds., • Troubleshoot and resolve basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and lighting issues under established guidelines., • Support maintenance of rooftop HVAC units and related components when needed., • Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner, documenting tasks performed and parts used., • Conduct general maintenance tasks such as painting, minor repairs, and touch-ups to maintain a clean, well-kept appearance., • Inspect facilities and equipment regularly to identify potential issues before they become major problems., • Respond to facility-related requests from on-site staff and other stakeholders in a professional, customer-focused manner., • Communicate clearly via written, verbal, and email channels regarding maintenance needs, status updates, and completed work., • Follow safety procedures and guidelines while operating tools, equipment, and accessing building systems, including rooftop areas., • Collaborate with other facilities and operations staff to coordinate work and minimize disruption to building users., • Support facility readiness across multiple nearby locations as needed.Essential Skills, • At least 6 months of building maintenance experience within apartment complexes, hotels, or similar facilities., • Proven experience performing general building maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks., • Ability to lift 50+ pounds on a daily basis., • Strong customer service skills and prior customer-facing experience., • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including email communication., • Hands-on experience with general maintenance and repair tasks, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and lighting work., • Ability to perform facilities maintenance and troubleshooting in an active, customer-focused environment., • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as required., • Reliability and consistency in following maintenance procedures and completing assigned tasks., • Basic troubleshooting skills for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous maintenance experience in a hotel or apartment complex environment., • Experience working in customer-focused settings such as apartments, hotels, or corporate facilities., • Experience with rooftop HVAC units., • Familiarity with VAV (Variable Air Volume) boxes., • Prior experience in residential maintenance and/or contractor work., • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple work orders and prioritize tasks effectively., • Comfort working both independently and as part of a facilities team.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role operates in a modern, professionally managed building environment supporting hotel and residential-style facilities. The typical shift is 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the requirement to be open to working weekends and to have flexibility to work a first shift (7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) when needed. Work is primarily split between two locations approximately two miles apart in the South Lake Union and Pioneer Square areas, and the technician may move between sites as required. The position focuses on building systems, public areas, and back-of-house spaces and does not involve entering occupied hotel rooms. The work involves frequent walking, standing, lifting 50+ pounds, climbing, and working with hand and power tools, as well as accessing mechanical rooms, rooftops, and other building systems areas. The environment is customer-oriented and service-driven, requiring a neat, professional appearance and attire suitable for a facilities technician working in a public-facing property while performing hands-on maintenance tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seattle, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.
