Job Description Job Title: Combination Welder $30- $32 Job Description The TIG Welder is responsible for precision welding on small-diameter pipe and thin-gauge sheet metal using the GTAW (TIG) process. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, steady hand control, and the ability to produce clean, high-quality welds on stainless steel, carbon steel, and/or aluminum depending on project needs. The welder must read blueprints, prepare materials, and perform fit-ups with accuracy to meet exacting fabrication standards. Responsibilities • Perform high-precision TIG welding on small-diameter pipe (typically under 2") and thin sheet metal, including stainless or aluminum., • Set up and operate TIG welding equipment, including gas flow, tungsten selection, and amperage control., • Weld in various positions (horizontal, vertical, overhead) as required for pipe and sheet assemblies., • Fit, tack, and fabricate assemblies according to drawings and weld procedures., • Ensure distortion control and heat management for thin materials., • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, pipe routing drawings, and cut sheets., • Verify part dimensions, tolerances, weld joint prep, and orientation prior to welding., • Prep small pipe and sheet metal: edge bevels, cleaning, deburring, polishing, and joint alignment., • Perform visual inspection of welds to ensure proper penetration, clean bead profile, and no porosity or weld defects., • Conduct leak checks or integrity tests when required (air, water, or pressure testing)., • Complete rework when necessary with minimal material impact., • Maintain TIG machines, gas regulators, hoses, torches, and consumables., • Follow all safety guidelines, PPE use, and shop protocols., • 2+ years TIG welding experience., • Demonstrated ability to weld small-diameter pipe and thin-gauge metals without warping., • Proficient in reading blueprints and welding symbols., • Ability to perform precise fit-ups and maintain weld consistency., • Experience with stainless sanitary tubing, HVAC piping, or precision sheet-metal fabrication., • Familiarity with purge setups for stainless pipe welding.
