Job Description Pizza Kitchen Prep– School Meal Production Job Description Location: 1402 W Van Buren Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85007 Reports To: Kitchen Lead and/or Kitchen Manager Pay Range: $17.00–$19.00/hour Position Type: Full-time; Part-time may also be available Schedule: Typical start times between 4am-5am, Mon-Fri Note: Some seasonal variation—work hours may significantly decrease or cease during school breaks (Spring, Fall, Winter, and Summer). Job Summary As a Pizza Kitchen Prep Worker at Nutrition One, you’ll help prepare delicious and nutritious pizzas and sides for students throughout Arizona. You'll play a key role in ensuring consistency, food safety, and speed while producing school meals under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). This hands-on role blends teamwork and precision, ensuring every slice we serve is made with care and purpose. Key Responsibilities ???? Pizza & Food Prep • Prepare dough, sauces, cheese blends, and toppings in accordance with standardized recipes, • Assemble pizzas efficiently while maintaining portion and quality standards, • Operate pizza ovens, slicers, and prep tools safely and accurately, • Portion sides such as salads, fruit, and packaged meals per USDA guidelines, • Follow Nutrition One’s HACCP protocols and food handling procedures, • Maintain clean prep stations, ovens, equipment, and storage areas, • Monitor and log food temperatures and hold times, • Sanitize tools, trays, and surfaces frequently throughout the shift, • Work collaboratively with Prep and Kitchen Leads to meet daily goals, • Assist with loading ovens, preparing to-go meals, or packing food for delivery as needed, • Support mobile meal service or on-site events when required, • Wear clean uniform and maintain proper hygiene per company policy, • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including meal program regulations, • Proactively seek clarification or training if unsure about prep methods or safety protocols, • Deliver meals to school sites or program locations safely and on time, • Operate company vehicle in compliance with traffic laws and Nutrition One safety policies, • Load and unload food carriers and supplies with care to prevent damage or spillage, • Communicate any delivery issues or delays to the Kitchen Lead or Manager promptly, • Ensure delivery logs, temperature checks, and required documentation are completed accurately, • Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance checks of the vehicle used for delivery, • Pizza Prep Shifts: Typically begin between 5:00-6:00 AM Monday-Friday Minimum Requirements • High School Diploma or equivalent, • Valid Food Handler’s Card, • Strong basic math skills (for portioning and recipes), • Clear communication skills and ability to follow instructions, • Dependable attendance and timeliness, • Valid Arizona Driver’s License (must be 21+ for insurance approval), • Stand and walk for 6+ hours per shift in a fast-paced, noisy kitchen environment, • Frequently bend, reach, squat, twist, grip, and use repetitive hand motions for food prep tasks, • Lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 50 lbs; maneuver carts up to 100 lbs, • Work safely with commercial kitchen equipment, • Tolerate exposure to hot, cold, or humid environments, strong food odors, and cleaning chemicals, • 1+ year food prep or pizza kitchen experience, • Customer service background is a plus, • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, • Valid AZ Driver’s License and clean driving record, • Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (DPS-issued)
