JOB PURPOSE Maintain a caseload of older adult clients; assessment of client's core strengths, needs, and challenges, provision of case assistance, supportive counseling services, and group services within this context. Provide supervision to Weinberg Center for Balanced Living social services team, which may include caseworkers, social workers, and social work interns. SCOPE OF INFLUENCE • Direct contact with the WCBL’s client group of older New Yorkers: assist clients with a range of complex issues related to aging; facilitate client-led goal-setting and attainment; provide psychoeducation, advocacy, and supportive counseling to clients in navigating challenging life issues; facilitation of group workshop(s); and assist with program events., • Lead by example as a licensed professional social worker, serving as a role model for social service interns and/or staff members., • Connect members and their families of origin or choice, including but not limited to adult children and caregivers, to internal and external community resources., • Direct or indirect contact with MCC’s staff, consultants, volunteers, and external partners, including the NYC Aging Program Officer during social services audits., • Direct contact with the Podell Houses and Alliance Apartments Building Manager., • Coordinate support strategies, internally and externally, that are culturally sensitive and language appropriate to meet individuals’ needs., • Participate in regularly scheduled case conferences, weekly supervision and WCBL staff meetings, and other special agency staff meetings., • Liaise with and cultivate connections with social service providers and develop partnerships with community agencies, institutions, and organizations to allow for efficient referral processes, implementation of educational workshops for community members and staff, and sharing of resources and best practices. Since 1996, we’ve worked alongside communities, courts, and those most directly affected by the justice system to build stronger, healthier, and more equitable neighborhoods. With a team of over 900 staff and an annual budget of $130 million, the Center carries out its mission through three core strategies: • Operating Programs that pilot new ideas and address local challenges;, • Conducting original research to evaluate what works—and what doesn’t; and THE OPPORTUNITY Since 2011, the Brownsville Community Justice Center (BCJC), an operating project of the Center, has worked to address systemic inequality, enhance public safety, and create opportunities for residents to lead in building a safer, more equitable community. The Neighborhood Safety Council (NSC) builds on BCJC’s decade of community-driven work, serving as a platform for residents, government partners, and community stakeholders to co-design and implement initiatives that improve safety, foster economic opportunity, and reduce reliance on the justice system. The Engagement Coordinator will play a key role in building and sustaining community participation in the NSC, with a focus on recruiting, developing and managing a Youth Leadership Council (YLC) that amplifies the voices of young people in shaping community safety strategies and executing public design projects. Reporting directly to the Program Manager, the Engagement Coordinator will design youth-focused leadership opportunities, facilitate skill-building workshops, and ensure that youth perspectives are integrated into the NSC’s priorities and decision-making processes. Responsibilities Full Time: Tuesday - Saturday: 2:00pm - 10:00pm • Orients patients to the unit policies, procedures, rules, regulations and routine schedule, • Utilizes crisis and/or de-escalation intervention practices, when necessary and appropriate, with patient whose behavior cannot be otherwise supported without such interventions, • Identifies patient characteristics and environmental variables that may trigger agitated behaviors(s) and communicates such information to the treatment team, • Performs patient's checks/rounds as required, • Communicates clinical matters to assigned Mental Health/DOC or other professional staff as required; reports any unusual findings or changes in physical/medical or emotional conditions to their supervisor that may affect the patient or the therapeutic milieu, • Escorts patient to groups or other required locations as directed, • Performs 1:1 monitoring of patients for behavioral management/modification purposes, • Participates in departmental clinical training as required, • May lead or co-lead groups/activities in areas such as anger management techniques and practices, and appropriately documents group activities, • Responds appropriately to patient emergencies and cooperates with DOC staff when necessary to support the safety of the unit, • Participates in regularly-scheduled, in person 1:1 supervision with the MHTA supervisor or designee, • Demonstrates a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, • Performs other appropriate mental health duties as directed by team leaders or supervisors Interface with DOC Staff, • Engage DOC staff when there is any incident of violence on the unit or when contraband is found on the unit or there is suspicion of contraband, • Prior to each tour, appropriately debrief DOC custodial staff regarding problematic patients or issues on the unit Job Hazards: Normal correctional health environment at facilities assigned This position is located on Rikers Island. Job Description The American Lung Association has an excellent opportunity for a Development Director. Working as a member of the Development department, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy. The person in this role is responsible for overseeing all aspects related to the creation, management and execution of annual fundraising campaigns with a focus on signature special events. This includes securing sponsorship, participant recruitment, volunteer involvement, team building, marketing, budget, timelines, evaluation and logistics. Location: The position is located at the American Lung Association’s New York City, New York office and will be a hybrid of in-person and virtual work. Responsibilities: • Responsible for raising funds through special events, individual & corporate giving, non-governmental grants & other income sources utilizing the implementation of best practices, • Develop, implement and monitor plans to meet area fundraising goals. If necessary, be prepared to develop a contingency plan to successfully meet fundraising goals and complete activities, • Ensure revenue goals are attained by identifying, recruiting, managing and stewarding high level volunteer committees, • Implement local fundraising events including securing sponsors & recruiting fundraising participants. Recruit, train & supervise development staff & volunteers., • Provide recommendations for area development budget & innovative ways to accomplish goals. Submit timely program reports., • In collaboration with the Executive Director, ensure the creation of a strong corporate committee (Growth Committee) comprised of corporate community leadership volunteers capable of increasing sponsorships and corporate support., • Launch and oversee a sub-committee to execute logistics and boost recruitment in the surrounding areas., • Coach corporate team captains and fundraising volunteers., • Manage Special Events Coordinator ensuring volunteer recruitment, e-communications, and adherence to the timeline for a successful event., • Responsible for cross-functional collaboration with Programs and Advocacy to ensure robust representation at all fundraising events, • Oversee all event solicitations. Oversee budget and logistics preparation. Work closely with a variety of vendors and venues necessary for event execution., • Oversee and manage event project timelines. Monitor and prepare ongoing event progress reports. Evaluate event results and use analysis to prepare recommendations for future events as needed., • Recruit, manage and coach community event team captains and volunteers. Cultivate relationships and effectively engage volunteers. Work with the Development team to cultivate event attendees., • Work closely with regional and national colleagues., • Bachelor’s Degree in Non-Profit Management, Marketing, or related field required., • Minimum of 5-7 years’ fundraising experience including special event planning and management, individual & corporate giving, and non-governmental grant acquisition., • Must have experience with leading and managing staff., • Demonstrated success in recruiting and stewarding high level volunteers, donors, and sponsors., • Experience with non-profit budget building and management., • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment with strong organizational skills and an attention to detail., • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proficient in social & digital media., • Able to work with minimum direct supervision, make decisions, and take initiative., • Proven ability to cultivate and steward relationships across a diverse population., • Must have a valid Driver’s license and your own reliable transportation with the ability to travel within assigned area 50% of the time for meetings and conferences, as well as the flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends with some overnights required., • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
