We are seeking a Surgical Oncology Physician Assistant for a 20-day locum tenens assignment in New York. This opportunity begins Jan 2, 2026, with orientation, followed by clinical work starting Jan 5, 2026. The schedule features day shifts, Monday through Friday, for four shifts each week. The role focuses on ambulatory breast surgical oncology, encompassing comprehensive perioperative care. Job Details • Location: New York, • Start Date: Jan 2, 2026, • LOA: 20 days, • Provider Type Needed: Surgical Oncology Physician Assistant, • Assess, diagnose, and monitor patients in ambulatory breast surgical oncology, • Promote health and protection from disease within the designated specialty, • Manage pre-, intra-, and post-operative care and treatment plans, • Conduct patient histories and physical exams, including pelvic exams when indicated, • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities, • Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions as appropriate, • Perform arterial puncture and blood gas sampling, • Provide debridement and care for superficial wounds and minor surgical procedures, • Conduct incision and drainage of superficial abscesses, • Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes, • Harvest and place skin grafts, • Participate in volume replacement or auto-transfusion techniques, • Perform field infiltrations of anesthetic solutions, • Remove chest tubes, arterial catheters, central venous catheters, and drains, • Remove surgical staples and apply appropriate wound dressings, • Assist in surgery, including tissue closure, cautery, and application of appliances as delegated by the supervising physician, • Administer injectable local anesthetics and basic blocks, • Perform urinary bladder catheterization and venous punctures for blood sampling or IV access, • Must hold a current New York license and meet all state requirements, • Required certifications: Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), • Experience in ambulatory breast surgical oncology and surgical core privilege procedures strongly preferred, • Strong compensation, • Travel-related expenses covered, • A-rated medical malpractice insurance provided #LI-SC1
