Job DescriptionJob Title: Electro Mechanical Maintenance Technician Job Description This role maintains all plant equipment in proper operating condition by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and following safe work practices throughout the facility. The Electro Mechanical Maintenance Technician diagnoses and repairs mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure production, packaging, and processing operations run efficiently and reliably. Responsibilities • Perform planned preventive and unplanned corrective maintenance on production, packaging, and processing equipment to ensure optimal machine performance., • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and complete repairs to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production., • Inspect machines and equipment to identify problems, replace defective parts, and make necessary adjustments to support ongoing operations., • Use hand and power tools to remove, install, rebuild, repair, and test components and equipment on plant and production machinery., • Troubleshoot and maintain a variety of equipment including motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), refrigeration systems, mixers, conveyors, sensors, printers, and packaging equipment., • Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to perform maintenance and service accurately., • Complete work orders in a timely manner while maintaining high quality standards and thorough documentation., • Communicate effectively with other departments, leadership, and coworkers to share information about equipment issues that may impact production efficiency., • Ensure all required paperwork is complete, clear, legible, accurate, and documented in accordance with standard operating procedures., • Apply a continuous improvement mindset by identifying opportunities to enhance maintenance processes, equipment reliability, and overall efficiency., • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and support food safety by maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe work area., • Adhere to required safe work practices including lockout-tagout procedures, wearing required personal protective equipment in designated areas, and practicing safe chemical handling and fall protection., • Correctly handle chemicals and dry materials while following all safety guidelines and hazard controls., • Operate stand-up and sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment safely as part of maintenance activities., • Perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, climbing, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods while operating machinery and tools.Essential Skills, • High School Diploma or GED preferred., • Formal engineering or maintenance training desired., • Minimum of two years of experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably in the food and beverage industry., • Minimum of two years of experience in one or more technical areas such as electrical, mechanical, PLC, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, or HVAC., • Minimum of two years of experience in lubricating, cleaning, materials handling, motor control, relay control, process control, and packaging equipment., • Demonstrated ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems, and independently take corrective action to prevent failures or downtime., • Proven ability to evaluate, repair, and operate production equipment, including troubleshooting, changing, maintaining, and repairing warehouse equipment., • Welding skills and proficiency with hand and power tools for equipment repair and maintenance., • Ability to accurately add, multiply, and divide in units of measure., • Ability to read and follow directions, technical documents, and work orders., • Basic computer skills and accurate data entry capabilities., • Skilled operation of stand-up and sit-down forklifts., • Capability to perform frequent physical activities such as lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, twisting, pushing, and pulling throughout the shift., • Ability to meet vision requirements including close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color differentiation., • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Professional experience with ammonia refrigeration systems preferred., • Experience working in a food or beverage manufacturing environment., • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and industrial equipment maintenance., • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and maintenance technician responsibilities., • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience in an industrial setting., • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety requirements., • Comfort working with noise, humidity, and temperature changes in a production environment., • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment., • Experience applying continuous improvement principles in maintenance activities.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position operates on 3rd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with flexibility required for overtime, weekends, and holidays based on production needs. The role is based in a standard production environment with exposure to noise, humidity, and temperature changes, including potential outdoor work when maintenance requires it. Products manufactured in the facility may contain peanuts and tree nuts, and employees handle chemicals and dry materials in accordance with safety procedures. The job is physically demanding and requires frequent operation of machinery, forklifts, and various hand and power tools, as well as regular lifting of up to 50 lbs, extended periods of standing and walking, and frequent bending, kneeling, and climbing. Personal protective equipment and safe work practices, including lockout-tagout and safe chemical handling, are an integral part of the daily work environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Brunswick, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
