Research line / Scientific-technical services: STUDY AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE ROBOTIZATION OF PANEL THREADING OPERATIONS IN SHIPBUILDING Grant/funding period: START: APRIL 01, 2026 END: SEPTEMBER 30, 2028 Centre of Principal Researcher: POLYTECHNIC SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AT FERROL / COMPUTER SCIENCE FACULTY AT A CORUÑA PURPOSE OF CONTRACT: SEE ATTACHED CALL REPORT Collaborator on activities related to the project/agreement stated. JOB LOCATION AND SCHEDULE: CEMI UDC FACILITIES - NAVANTIA Batallones Building (Ferrol), Monday to Friday from 9:00 - 14:00 and from 16:00 to 18:00 This contract is convened under the project Centro Mixto de Investigación "The shipyard of the future" (hereinafter CEMI) in which the University of A Coruña and the companies STGO and Navantia participate. The purpose of this contract is the collaboration in the research activities carried out within CEMI. Task to be performed and subject of the contract The tasks of the hired researcher will involve the study and development of the robotization of panel threading operations in shipbuilding, through the following phases: • Analysis of the current process: study of the manual threading process, collection of shop-floor data, analysis of cycle times, tolerances, variability, ergonomic risks, and operational requirements., • Conceptual engineering: definition of functional requirements, identification of technical constraints, and evaluation of alternatives for automation, sensing, guidance, and robotic implementation., • Mechanical design and simulation: 3D modeling of panels, tooling, and structures, combined with multiphysics simulation and Physics-Informed Neural Network (PINN) models to validate and optimize the proposed solution. Duration of the Contract The contract will be fixed-term, in accordance with applicable law. It is cautioned that the context of this call is linked to the CEMI project, the completion of which is scheduled to end in September 2028 Degree on Engineering, Sciences or equivalent. Specific Requirements (1) All applicants must meet the following requirements by the deadline for the submission of applications and maintain them during the term of the contract: • To have Spanish nationality or any other to which state regulations attribute equal rights for labor purposes in the public administration., • To have the required qualification and meet the rest of the requirements indicated in the call., • To have reached the age of sixteen years and do not exceed, if applicable, the maximum age of forced retirement., • To possess the functional capacity necessary to develop the corresponding functions or tasks described in memory., • Not to have been separated by the applicant by disciplinary record from the service of any public administration or the constitutional or statutory bodies of the autonomous communities, or to be in a position of absolute or special disqualification for employment or public office by judicial resolution, for access to the body or scale of civil servant or to perform functions similar to those performed, in which the said person had been separated or disqualified. In the event of being a national of another country, the applicant shall be required not to be disqualified or in an equivalent situation, or to be subjected to disciplinary sanction or equivalent that prevents, in his/her country, on the same terms, access to public employment. (2) The recruitment of foreign persons from non-EU countries, which shall be formalized for the sole purpose of carrying out research or technical tasks, shall require the submission, at the time of signing the contract, of the residence permit and the authorization of work on behalf of another person or the accreditation of the concurrence of cause of exception of such authorization, In accordance with Organic Law 4/2000, of the 11 of January, on the rights and freedoms of foreigners in Spain, and their social integration and applicable regulatory provisions. Additional Information Eligibility Criteria Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field. Specific training in numerical simulation, robotics, or artificial intelligence applied to engineering will be considered an asset. Previous experience and specialized training (courses, seminars, etc.) in the following areas will also be positively valued: Experience in the use of numerical simulation tools such as Ansys, Abaqus, or equivalent software in applied engineering projects. • Participation in the development and validation of multiphysics models for mechanical or industrial systems., • Experience in model calibration and tuning using experimental data., • Knowledge of simulation-based optimization techniques and parametric analysis., • Familiarity with methods for developing hybrid models that combine physics-based simulation and artificial intelligence techniques., • Knowledge of Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) or equivalent methodologies., • Experience in the acquisition, processing, and analysis of data from sensors or industrial testing., • Participation in automation, robotics, or industrial digitalization projects., • Knowledge of metal manufacturing processes, shipbuilding, or similar industrial environments., • Ability to document technical results and present conclusions in a clear and structured manner., • Participation in R&D projects, technical publications, or academic work related to advanced simulation, applied artificial intelligence, or complex physical systems., • Proficiency in simulation software and Machine Learning tools. It is mandatory to support the merits with the presentation of documents or official statements. Any supporting document must be issued prior to the end of the call period. Only merits related to the profile of the position will be scored. A minimum of 30 points according to the following points is required to be hired. This minimum of 30 points will also be required to be part of the hiring waitlist. The average mark of the required degree will be scored up to 25 points (e.g. average mark of the graduate or equivalent degree). Average mark: 10 or equivalent - 25 points Average mark: 9 or equivalent - 22.5 points Average mark: 8 or equivalent - 20 points Average mark: 7 or equivalent - 17.5 points Average mark: 6 or equivalent - 15 points Average mark: 5 or equivalent - 12.5 points If the Degree corresponds to any of the required degrees, the score will be taken fully. In any other field of knowledge, the score taken will be 5% of the average mark. Additional specific training related to the specific profile of this call, up to 20 points. Master’s degrees and courses related with the call profile: 20 points per master degree and 1 point per each 50 hours (maximum 5 points on courses). The score of a University Master’s degree related to the profile of the position will attain up to 20 points, depending on its relevance to the profile and the average grade obtained. The qualification used to meet the access requirement will not be assessed. Thus, If the Master’s Degree corresponds to any of the required fields, it will be fully credited. If it belongs to any other field, it will be valued at 5% of the obtained score according to its average grade. English language: Levels B (3 points) and C (5 points) will be scored. • Specific experience (previous positions, R&D projects, etc.) related to the specific profile of the call: up to 15 points., • Previous experience in joint research units supported by companies and research institutions: 1 point per month, up to a maximum of 10 points., • Previous experience on R&D projects in the field of this call: 5 points per European project, 4 national and 3 regional (up to 10 points)., • Experience on scientific publications and research production on the topic of this call, up to 15 points. Only published articles related to the subject of the call will be scored. The score for JCR indexed papers will be 5 points per article Q1, 4 for Q2, 3 for Q3, 2 for Q4 and 1 for articles in journals with other indicators of quality such as SJR, committees, relevant conferences or other similar ones. Personal interview: the suitability of the curriculum vitae to the job will be assessed. Up to 25 points will be granted. The candidates with the highest score in the previous items (excluding the interview), who obtain at least 5 points will be interviewed. Only the three candidates with the uppermost score will be called to be interviewed. Failure to attend the interview will exclude the candidate. Candidates will be called for the interview at least 48 hours in advance. When the assessment of the applicants, according to the above criteria, concludes that two or more aspirants obtain the same score, the tie will be resolved by how old the provided merits are. For such a purpose, the merits provided by the aspirants will be ordered in chronological order, giving priority to the older merits. First, and only for the purposes of this tiebreaker, a point will be assigned to each of the merits contributed by each applicant. However, for each of the merit sections indicated in the call, the merits provided in the last place chronologically (i.e., the most recent merits), will be assessed with zero points. The waiting list will include the non-selected candidates ranked according to their scores from the previous criteria, excluding the score yielded in the personal interview. Candidates will need to attain the minimum score required to be hired in this call. Otherwise, the candidates will be excluded from the waiting list.
