ROLE PURPOSE We are looking for a Litigation Lawyer with 5+ years of experience in high-volume litigation to lead the company's litigation strategy and provide strategic support during the pre-litigation phase within the fintech sector. The successful candidate will combine outstanding technical expertise with exceptional legal creativity, leveraging advanced artificial intelligence tools in legal practice. They will act as a trusted advisor to management and department heads, helping transform litigation management into a competitive advantage. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES High-Volume Litigation & Procedural Strategy (approx. 40%) In collaboration with / under the supervision of the Head of Litigation Lead the legal strategy for high-volume litigation related to consumer credit, including usury claims, transparency, standard contractual terms, and consumer protection regulations. Develop scalable litigation strategies, including legal arguments, response templates, and consistent defense criteria by claim type, court, and jurisdiction. Monitor case law from the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), the Spanish Supreme Court, and Provincial Courts, ensuring the company's litigation strategy remains up to date, including cost recovery strategies. Coordinate and supervise external law firms and legal representatives, ensuring quality standards, deadlines, SLA compliance, and cost control. Strategic Support During the Pre-Litigation Phase (approx. 25%) In collaboration with / under the supervision of the Head of Litigation Define the company's pre-litigation strategy by analyzing high volumes of out-of-court claims and assessing legal risk versus cost to determine whether to settle or litigate. Negotiate out-of-court settlements and develop data-driven settlement matrices based on success probability, expected cost, and litigation cost risk. Work cross-functionally with Collections, Compliance, Customer Support, and Product teams to identify root causes and reduce litigation at its source. Artificial Intelligence & Legal Transformation (approx. 20%) Use generative AI and legal technology tools to perform large-scale document analysis, draft legal pleadings, review court decisions, and analyze litigation data. Identify, test, and implement new AI use cases across the litigation lifecycle while ensuring quality, confidentiality, and appropriate human oversight. Define and document legal processes, workflows, playbooks, and escalation criteria to support automation and scalability. Management Communication & Reporting (approx. 15%) Serve as the primary point of contact for management and department heads, delivering executive reports in English on litigation KPIs, including litigation volume, success rates, and legal costs. Provide strategic recommendations based on litigation trends, legal developments, and business objectives. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Essential Requirements Exceptional legal creativity, with the ability to develop innovative litigation strategies and legal arguments. Professional English proficiency (minimum C1), both written and spoken, for reporting and stakeholder communication. Excellent executive communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal matters clearly, support recommendations with data, and maintain a business-oriented mindset. Advanced proficiency in artificial intelligence tools, including generative AI, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted document analysis applied to legal practice. Strong knowledge of Spanish civil procedural law, standard terms and conditions, and consumer protection legislation. Strong analytical mindset, data-driven approach, ability to work autonomously, attention to detail, and excellent prioritization skills in high-volume environments. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Law Degree (LL.B. or equivalent) and qualification to practice law, including admission to the relevant Bar Association. 5+ years of experience in high-volume litigation, preferably within fintech, banking, consumer finance, or law firms managing large litigation portfolios. Demonstrated experience providing strategic support during the pre-litigation phase. Experience defining, documenting, and automating legal processes (legal operations, process mapping, workflow design) is highly desirable. Experience using data analysis tools to support legal decision-making is a plus.
