Role Overview: My client is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support key data initiatives on an initial 6-month contract. The role will focus on designing, building, and maintaining reliable, scalable data pipelines and ensuring high standards of data quality, governance, and interoperability. You will work in a modern, cloud-based environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust data solutions that support critical business and scientific use cases. This role is fully remote, provided you are based in Spain. Data Engineering • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines using Python, • Work extensively with JSON and JSON Schema to ensure structured, consistent data, • Implement and maintain data validation frameworks to enforce data quality standards, • Orchestrate and manage workflows using Apache Airflow, Prefect, or similar tools, • Manage schema registries, including schema versioning and controlled evolution, • Align datasets with controlled vocabularies and ontologies to ensure semantic consistency, • Utilize cloud-based data services for scalable data processing and storage, • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows, • Develop and support automated testing and monitoring to ensure data reliability and performance, • Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements and governance standards Required Skills & Experience • Strong experience in Data Engineering, particularly Python-based ETL development, • Solid understanding of JSON, JSON Schema, and data modeling principles, • Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, or equivalent), • Experience implementing data validation, testing, and monitoring frameworks xcskxlj, • Familiarity with schema registry tools and schema versioning practices, • Experience working with cloud data platforms and services, • Strong understanding of CI/CD principles applied to data pipelines, • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment, • EU citizenship and current residence in Spain (mandatory) Nice to Have • Experience with controlled vocabularies, ontology alignment, or semantic data modeling, • Exposure to metadata management platforms or data catalogs, • Previous experience in life sciences, healthcare, or other regulated industries
